Re: Recording Gtalk Mic wave same time recording. Please.

<<<is there no way it can passively record?>>> Certainly. You can place a microphone between you and the speaker. Pick a quiet room and cover the desk or table with a blanket or quilt (or moving quilt--the best way). Plug the microphone into the second computer, launch Audacity, set levels with the ...

Re: Streaming audio

That is what they do, yes. You do have to get their settings right.

Re: Recording Gtalk Mic wave same time recording. Please.

Most chat systems take over your machine sound services completely to gain maximum reliability. Usually, the only way of recording both sides of the conversation is if the chat software offers a module or tool that does it. One of the VOIP Telephone systems does it that way.

Preferences, Dreaded Windows Registry or CFG file?

Say someone ( a real poster) installed 1.2 on his Windows machine. The program preferences get burned into the Registry. Then they installed 1.3. Do they get an audacity.cfg file and is there any interaction between the two Audacities? In a vaguely allied question, If you "uninstall" Audac...

Re: How do you import a pro tools project file into audacity

<<<I've tried importing other audio file types into audacity such as mp3 and other software proj files>>> Audacity does not support anybody else's projects (that I know of), and if you imported a real MP3 file, you would have gotten music, not trash. Everybody thinks "Compressed Sound File"...

Re: All Export files corrupt.

I can't wait for the hard core Windows people to arrive. You know you can install 1.2 and 1.3 on the same machine and you're good to go as long as you don't use both at once? Does Windows Sound Recorder work? Windows Sound Recorder Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment When most people s...

Re: Recording volume control

Windows machines have the ability to record their output show. On some machines this is called "What You Hear." If you're set up that way, then both the input and output settings will affect the volume of the recording. You probably don't want that because it causes a lot of troubles. Wind...

Re: 1.3.4 Stutterring sound

<<<un-installing Norton solved the problem.>>> I've never heard of this happening on Windows machines, but we're determined to get suppliers to stop putting Norton on Macs because it seriously compromises video services. As near as we can figure, a particular robust virus package insists on inspecti...

Re: Invisible Metadata Editor

Mac Mini, 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, Tiger 10.4.11, Experimental Mac Audacity 1.3.7.

I followed these steps and the "Edit Metadata" dialog box appears. The music is exported successfully and plays in QuickTime Player.

I don't have my 10.5 license on line yet, and I've never used 1.3.6.

Re: Shortcuts with ALT on Mac

<<<That's known as Quick-Play and not actually a bug:>>> Which is why I didn't call it a bug. I just said 1.2.5 didn't do that. That saves an enormous number of keystrokes when you're looking for a segment. "That's not it, no, no, shucks, not here, there it is!" Why, it's almost as good as...
