Re: Bug? Channels available in 1.2.6 are missing in 1.3 beta

<<<the previous Beta 1.3.5 should still be able to record eight channels with your device. >>>

So it's not my imagination that 1.3.5 was the last known good stable unstable release.

Re: Stealth Plug

I wrote up what I went through to get my USB microphone to work. You may get some hints in there. Does it do anything?

Re: Audacity-rendered my computer deaf??

The first thing that happened is you didn't delete Audacity. Or not the whole thing. You also need to lose the audacity.cfg preferences file for a complete deletion. Your Windows Sound Panel probably got reset. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#U...

Re: amplifying background voice

<<<f there are two rows of frequency on the audacity pane, does it mean it's stereo and not mono?>>> Sometimes. That does tell you that you have two channels of audio and not much else. Triple Boot Mac...Yo!

I got my Intel Mac working with native boot to Tiger 10.4.11 and two FireWire boots to Leopard 10.5.5. The Tiger drive has Audacity 1.2.5 and 1.3.5. One Leopard partition has Audacity 1.3.6 and the other 1.3.7. If I launch a fresh Audacity and open the simple piano trill, only 1.2.5 presents the tim...

Re: amplifying background voice

<<<Is there voice recognition capacity with audacity?>>> Not the way you think, no. You can't point Audacity at a musical performance and ring a bell when a human starts singing. The other possibility is software to type English words when somebody talks. It won't do that, either. Koz

Re: amplifying background voice

<<<Is there a way with audacity to amplify the soft voice in the background and suppress the loud voice in the foreground?>>> There's no way with any software to do that. Is it a mono show? Re: HELP ! AUdacity 1.2.6 causing system crash

Audacity is a complete slave to the machine it's running on. If you have exclamation marks in your System Configuration software, then yes, the instant Audacity steps on that service, it could damage the OS and take down the machine. Audacity is the stability inspection service.
