Re: Splitting into Tracks from DAT tape
So you ran a cable from the DAT machine headphone connection to the Line-In of your computer. You'd be shocked how much professional sound is transferred that way. Did you Export As WAV to get a sound file backup of your work? If you leave it in Audacity Project form, the show is really easy to dama...

Re: It is only recording one channel
Just to cover the bases, Audacity wakes up from First Birthday in one-channel mono.
Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > Recording > Channels 2 (Stereo). Under Quality, you should probably choose 44100 Hz sample rate and 16-bit.

Re: Sound like a computer in a movie
The graphic equalizer can make your voice tinny or muffled... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/100Hz_Rumble.jpg That's an example of a microphone rumble and thump filter, but if you build one of those curves more to the right and apply it, it can make you sound seriously thin. But for the really good ...

Re: vocoder plugins anyone?
We beat up this Vocoder thing a little while ago. Keep reading through this. It hits a lot of good points for people wanting to do this.

Re: Fade Effect time length
It takes the length of time you selected when you designed the fade. Click at the very end of the piece and then drag to the left four minutes. If you apply a Fade Out to that highlighted portion, the performance will fade for four minutes.

Re: 1.2.6 Cursor Stuck!!
So now I'm of two minds. Hard to do in one head, but here in California, we do wondrous things. Does 1.3.x do it? Then the problem is dead because nobody is going to fix 1.2. First, I've never had that happen on a Mac or Linux. Other problems, yes, but not that one. You know there's a way to reset t...

Re: Splitting into Tracks from DAT tape
<<<DAT tape>>> Actually, there's usually a DAT machine in the middle and they're notoriously difficult to use unless you have a full-on television production facility. Do you? If not, you probably did what most people do and take the headphone output into your computer, right? I'm getting silly abou...

Re: windows nt4 version
As a fine, upstanding user of Windows NT, I can tell you it wouldn't make any difference. Windows NT didn't support audio/video almost at all. I struggled for years trying to get simple sound recoding and playback and was shocked the first Windows 98 Special Edition I found. That was the first time ...
