Re: What is the difference? - stable vs unstable
The "Stable" version has been through all the platform testing and all of most of the obvious bugs and instabilities have been worked out. Keep in mind all that happened two operating system upgrades ago. So 1.2 in most cases is not running on the same computers with which it was tested. T...

Re: Beginner's Question: Line Level Sensitivity??
Missed a step. If you're an Audacity Newby, you need to know that if you launch Audacity and click once in the red record meters, they will wake up in what you know as E-E mode and meter the input without you rolling tape, er, going into record.

Re: Beginner's Question: Line Level Sensitivity??
You set the Mac line level in Preferences. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. That's the main Mac volume control and the meter is digital peak with about a 40 dB range. Given that consumer "0" VU is about-12 peak and most music peaks about 8-10 dB over that, music peaks...

<<<you should just get a new project window >>>
Yes. That's what I got. It appears like a fresh Audacity.
The point is the first and second work windows do not act the same--sometimes.
Working on the next problem.

Re: Triple Boot Mac...Yo!
Intel Mac, OS-X 10.5.5. Audacity 1.3.7a 20081212 Isn't this fun? The behavior of the tools in 1.3.7 is insane, and I think I know why. The code has a race condition struggling to, or not to, yellow halo activate the timeline. Depending on the humidity, I get different conditions and different tool a...

Re: Building with FFMPEG - LIBSNDFILE not available
Even though you're doing all this in Mac-land and thus posting in the right place, you're so far above the abilities of the helpers and everybody else that you should probably post on one of our Linux forums. They will be far better to answer questions about cfg-path-lib-pkg files and compiling tech...

Re: All S sounds becomes tzzssh
I'm trying to get you to tell me what we have to fix. It's no good standing at the very end of the pipe and complaining about the result. Most times--especially with sound--it's far better to catch the error before it becomes serious.

<<<I don't have a car.>>>
Well, heck, that's your problem.
OK, so close everything, put the CD into your computer and let the CD player launch and play the disk. Does it sound normal if you do that? If you have a really tiny sound system, plug the headphones in.

Re: error
What is the sound device? USB Turntable? It doesn't give you that error if you're recording from the computer internal services.
