Re: Custom Tempo?

You may have discovered the shortcoming of that tool. I've never gotten software to tell me what the original BPM was--in several different audio programs, not just Audacity. If you know both numbers, then in programming land, it's a snap to calculate the changes. It's also relatively easy to do per...

Re: Audacity wouldn't record

The video people have this problem all the time. If you have a particularly vicious protection suite, it tries to monitor everything written to the hard drive or any file that changes. This usually kills live production, video or audio.

Re: Orphaned Blockfiles & Missing Audio Data Blockfiles

Since this is Windows, when was the last time you did a drive error check and Drefrag? Audacity will not capture live performances into a badly fragmented or full hard drive.

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED Crashed whilst recording

How full is your hard drive? Some production people won't even leave the house unless they have at least 20% free space available. Sudden Computer Insanity can be cause by the machine running out of drive. UNIX systems treat hard drive as slow, sloppy memory, so having a drive problem is the equival...

<<<You can set a "marker" using Ctrl+M (or whatever the Mac equivalent of that is).>>>

"M?" I thought it was "B" on all platforms.

Apple Audacity 1.3.5 has it as Apple-B.

Edit > Select > All.

Effect > Change Tempo
-or-
Effect > Change Speed.

I think one of then affects musical pitch and the other one doesn't.

Re: Use as a WAV editor

1. Yes, I've said so loudly and at great length. Audacity is not a WAV editor. Audacity produces Editorial Production Environments and almost as an afterthought allows you to export a WAV (or other) file format. 2. There are quite a large number of other programs with this annoying habit, so Audacit...

Re: How to read the file format?

In Windows, I think you can right-click on the file and look at Properties.

Re: dead space at end of imported wavs

You might have the wrong Audacity and that's why it doesn't work right. This is the information I need from you and where to find it. This example is the machine I'm typing on now. There is no Audacity 2.1.6 Koz I have a question about Audacity 1.3.5 [1] running on my 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo [2] Mac...

Re: Devil voice (like DMC4)

You have to play the movie segment over and over and figure out what sound they were using for the base effects track. It doesn't have to be a musical instrument or noise generator. It could be another distorted voice, very low for example, saying the same lines. That would give you multiple distort...
