Re: Exporting to MP3 issues

<<<extend a 10 second audio file>>> Audacity will act funny if it can't figure out what the original audio file type was. Not all internet audio files are MP3 and if you got one of the others by accident, Audacity 1.2 will edit into a mess and then fail to export. I understand Audacity 1.3 warns you...

Right Click, Theme and Variations.

I think I'm on the track of a Windows Oddity. Everybody keeps insisting that if I right click on a sound file and select properties, Windows will tell me all about my sound file, similar to the QuickTime INFO panel on a Mac. You will excuse my blank look, but that doesn't happen in Windows 2000 and ...

Re: Distortion in Windows Media Player after making edits in

WAV files can have different qualities and settings and Audacity wakes up from First Birthday in an odd way. 44100, 16-bit, Stereo files are very standard and everybody accepts them. Unfortunately, Audacity wakes up 44100, 32-bit floating, and Mono. Change these settings in the Audacity Preferences ...

Re: Still hearing clicks... and time shift

If each and every edit seems to click, you may have DC in the capture or raw work. Before you edit anything, Select All and Effect > Normalize, but not actually normalize, just use the Remove DC part of that tool. I bet all your clicks go away. I have one USB audio device that leaks DC Voltage into ...

Re: Looking to Record Audio Directly From Console Games

You can get a Mac laptop or deskside and plug your adapter cable directly into the Line-In on the side of the case. Launch Mac Audacity. Record your brains out. This also works if you have a large, deskside PC with a Line-In on the sound card, or a laptop that can manage its sound service to provide...

Re: Latency ?????

<<<So I wind up recording with no sound, which is not optimal.>>> No, but it's perfectly normal. Computers are not fun with live production, which is why when you buy sound equipment, the "Latency" value is now a big deal in addition to the other audio quality values in the spec sheet. It'...

Quite well, I believe.

If you're in a position to directly compare them, post back with your observations and conclusions.

Re: Cisco Phone Prompts and WAV U-Law format

Chunks and Fragments.

Audacity 1.3.x has a batching command called "Chains" about which I know nothing.

We do know that Audacity is terrible at converting between sound formats. Other Programs are generally used to do that ahead of editing, like Super or Switch.

Re: Custom Tempo?

<<<If I understand it in a bad way it means that you are making fun of me? >>> I'm not making fun at you. I can do that later if you want. The professional DJ that created your mix music was using special CDs and LPs that had the BPM marked on the outside of the cardboard envelope or plastic sleeve....

Re: Custom Tempo?

Anybody with a watch can figure out what the original number is--if even you can do it. Dance tunes have a relief segment in the middle where the singer performs without the instruments. That drives software nuts. If they count rhythm beats, they will arrive at numbers 30% slower than what's there. ...
