TimeLine Overshoot
Mac Audacity 1.3.5b. I'm trying to rapidly edit a half-hour stereo show and I noticed that when I selected a portion at the end, the cursor, although it snaps to the end of the waveform, will keep going into virgin territory if I keep pushing by accident. Why does it do that and can I get into troub...

Generate Silence Hot Key
I had a PC failure this morning, so I needed to edit some theatrical productions in Mac Audacity. I picked 1.3.5b. I found or made all the hot keys I needed until I got to the place I needed to add a half-second silent slug. The Silence Generator doesn't appear to go to a half-second, and there does...

Re: MP3 plays too fast in Firefox
<<<I have converted some songs from CD to mp3 using Audacity.>>> How are you doing that first step? Unless you have an actual Music CD ripping program or live capture software, getting music from a CD is harder than you think. If you got the music from Windows Media, then the songs aren't in CD form...

Re: Question about MultiTrck recrding of sounds directly fro
You need to stop recording Stereo Mix. In Windows, Stereo Mix is the show just as it leaves the sound card on the way to your speakers in the living room. It's recursive which makes your head hurt. It will re-record the click track that you're playing as a music guide, and record your live performan...
Re: Editing
Wrong philosophy. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. What you are intended to do is capture everything you do, from coughing at the beginning to answering the CellPhone® half-way through to that embarrassing noise you made from the cabbage casserole you had last night. Save everything--or be...

Your Favorite 1.3...
Does it bother anybody else that we all have favorite versions of 1.3 that we find workable and useful and reasonably stable (in spite of the category)...and they're all different? I like Mac 1.3.5, but there are happy users of 1.3.3, 1.3.4, and 1.3.6. Even more uncomfortable is the idea that the ha...

Re: Still hearing clicks... and time shift
<<<Sometimes there may not be a zero crossing point available that is close enough to where you make the edit (most often happens with stereo recordings) in which case you will need to repair the click. To do this, zoom in very close on the click and use the "Repair" effect.>>> But still, ...

Re: Export to MP3 loses channel synch
Remember DAT, Digital Audio Tape? This is precisely why DAT used television SMPTE time code instead of relying on the sampling clock frequencies between two devices. SMPTE will get you down to 1/30 of a second accuracy anywhere in the recording. And it will match the two videotapes running at the sa...
