Re: Generate Silence Hot Key

I'm considering an awkward work-around using copy and paste. A second work panel which just had a half-second of silence in it. I don't use the copy process much during editing, so that's one option.

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED Crashed whilst recording

<<<I got the rainbow wheel and it just hung there.>>> You get the Spinning Beach Ball Of Death (SBBOD) when the system thinks access to the hard drive or other memory system is taking too long. At 10G, we start seriously looking for things to throw out. You can use up 10G very rapidly in a long live...

Re: Your Favorite 1.3...

<<<like some of the changes that were introduced in 1.3.6, have caused. >>>

Yeah. 1.3.6 comes up a lot as the software that people want to downgrade from because of damage or other unfortunate event.

You gotta get closer than that. Which one do you have?

Re: Only LEFT Channel Records

Some turntables ship with the cartridge, needle, and headshell in a separate sturdy box. Pull the headshell from the tone arm and replace it a couple of times and see if maybe the Right Channel doesn't come back--or at least change. If you do get change, then you might be able to go in there with Q-...

Re: speed conversion

Yes, certainly. I think the Effect > Change Speed tool should do nicely, but that's not the only problem you're going to run into. Well, I mean you are going to run into speed conversion problems because you can't just slide the frequency response around like that without some consequences, but that...

Re: Question about MultiTrck recrding of sounds directly fro

Oh, another place where that fails is remixing the relative sound levels. Since you never had a stand-alone cello track, you can't make it softer later.

Re: Question about MultiTrck recrding of sounds directly fro

I've been doodling on the napkin with my trusty felt-tip pen and I'm pretty sure you can't do that in one pass. And even if you do kludge together a software pathway, it's going to be late because of all the transition/latency times. You need to do it in layers--or borrow your mom's computer and use...

Re: How do I get rid of Distortion?

This may not be coming from where you think. You probably shouldn't be recording "What You Hear." What You Hear is the service that takes the sound card's speaker feeds and sends them back to be recorded... plus the direct microphone and whatever else is part of your production. Everything...

Edit Point Delay

Mac Audacity 1.3.5b. I'm editing a stereo show on a 1.83 GHz Intel Duo-Core Mac Mini, no slouch for speed. It's my TV Set and it will edit video if I need. One fifth of the internal hard drive is free. There is a beat delay between the time I select a point on the timeline and the time that the focu...
