Audacity is a complete slave to the computer sound services. Chances are, if Windows Sound Recorder can see the show, Audacity will be able to see it, too.

Re: noob question
<<<overlay and instrumental clip with a vocal clip>>> I'm divining that what you actually want to do is sing over an existing music bed? Splitting a machine like that isn't trivial, but you do need to wade through the basics first. Combining two existing tracks --assuming they're in the same audio s...

Re: TimeLine Overshoot
<<<Using the "Generate" functions.>>> Since as far as I know all the generate functions are "flat" and don't change over time, you wouldn't need timeline overshoot. Some filters take information from the timeline before they act and extending the selection into blank timeline wou...

Re: I Can't Export Anything in 44 KHZ!
44100 is a standard sampling frequency. That's the number used for the music on your music CDs. 48000 is a standard music sampling frequency, too, but that one is used by the video people. You can change Audacity on the fly with the sampling rate window in the extreme lower left. You need to know th...

Re: play just clicks
But it does play files you make, right?
Since Audacity knows how to manage an MP3 file, what you have isn't an MP3 file. It's a highly compressed "Something Else." Convert with Super or Switch into a nice WAV file and then import into Audacity.

Re: Problem with amr files
AMR are compressed cellphone sound files. I would be very surprised if Audacity had any idea what they were. Since Audacity has no idea how to manage them, it plays them uncompressed. So the difference between the expected show duration and the audio playback is the compression. A five second show t...

<<<If you click on the time line, play should begin without pressing the spacebar.>>>
Oh, yes. I forgot Audacity 1.3 does that. Of course, none of this would be necessary if we could scrub.
