Re: How do I get rid of Distortion?
Do you still hear it if you play the CD Someplace Else, like in the car or other separate CD player? Another computer? A Mac? I'm going through all the times I have had problems that change with the player. Pretty much never, but I can imagine a way to create problems like that. If you assume the bl...

Re: Unwanted Noise on second track
Are you recording with "What You Hear" turned on? This is a common Windows problem. When you turn on "What You Hear," Audacity will record everything twice with sometimes subtle feedback or delay distortions. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixe...

Re: buying a headset
<<<The specifications are excellent for such a low price >>> Yes, well, I think I would take some of that with a significant dollop of salt, but the microphone produces (unless they changed it) significant level and a clear voice which is what we were looking for. I'm sure they sacrificed some room ...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
Figuring out where the distortion is is critical. I wonder what that tool would do to a good fuzz guitar track. Cello and timpani? Wouldn't it be funny if it took the cannons out of the 1812? Reading through all that is making my head bleed, but what provision is there for the all too common problem...

Re: Lost audio after upload
<<<It will not necessarily show up in the waveform display because the display is in just a couple of the data files>>> If you want to experiment, create a really short project, close it, and find the _DATA folder. Delete or move the first .au file. The next time you open that project, the left blue...

Re: Lost audio after upload
Audacity Projects are seriously magic which is why some of us think it should be a little harder to make one by accident. As you found out, a Project is not an audio file, it's an Editorial Production Environment. An AUP file is a laundry list of where everything is in your show, and there could be ...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
No, it's always true. By the time people realize they need help, it's too late. I know exactly one producer that used noise reduction to gently get rid of a faint air conditioner whine in his interview. It turned an already good show into an excellent show. That's it. One. Everybody else wants softw...

Re: buying a headset
Still here. Good. I first saw this post from home and I didn't have the numbers. I did the engineering acceptance for our Labtec 342 headsets. At least I think they're 342s. The headsets do not have model numbers on them. I went through a bunch of different headsets and these were the ones with the ...

Re: Unable to open target file for writing
You can get that under a number of circumstances. --MP3 exports require a bunch of drive space. How much do you have and have you defragged and error checked? Audacity will not work into a badly fragmented drive no matter how much room there is. Right click on the hard drive and properties. How much...

Re: Synthesizer USB connection
The forum tends to not accept attachments. The servers aren't all that big. I do it by uploading the sound or picture to my web site and then point to it in the forum.
