Re: Recording my side of a Skype session
I'm betting no. You will either get Skype telephone services or a sound recording, not both. In order for the VOIP telephone systems to work reliably, they have to take over the computer sound services with an iron fist. Variations are either not allowed, or cause immediate damage. There is one VOIP...

Re: Recording Woes
<<<I recorded with it at least three times.>>> Now, or before it failed? I know it seems I'm being a pain in the neck, but we can't see your setup and we hang on your every word. This is where you find out you don't write in near the precision you think you do. Which Audacity version? If you're usin...

Re: Which Sound Card Line-In
I use Macs. They both have terrific Line-In connections, analog or optical, and the connections came with the computers. They will not manage a microphone connection, however, so that's where I get to break out the credit card and y'all get to laugh at me. I do have two Win2000 deskside machines and...

Re: Saving with playing-speed!!!???
<<<how can i save my song with speed (of playing , you know) , i want saving strickly to mp3 ...>>> Yes, Audacity doesn't save audio files, it Exports them, but the question is worded oddly enough for me to ask if you had MP3 files that played at the wrong speed or had some other damage? Koz

Re: Listening while recording
The reason it works is your iMac doesn't have a Mic-In jack. It's Stereo Line-In and is reasonably compatible with your headset volume. There are tricks you can try to force your speakers to wake up. Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O > Recording > those check boxes down there at the bottom. Each co...

Nowhere in this did you say you were on a Windows machine. Are you?

Re: Recording Woes
And, of course there's no way to know if the microphone itself is still working or not. <<<I was successful at recording a few times ... My primary mode of recording is with a USB Microphone>>> That makes it sound like you had an older microphone that worked and you upgraded. Did you? Does the old m...

Oh, one more. The odd numbers are experimental. CF2.3 has the test code for polarity inversion. It's beta.

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
There is one problem I've noticed that glances off the ideas advanced. In almost all of the cases of obvious clipping, when the waveforms are posted, they look nothing like classic waveform flat-topping (and bottoming). We know that if you put sharp waveforms through a restricted bandwidth environme...
