Re: Audacity Isn't Detecting My Sound
<<<(The computer has the same error all the time, and nothing is affected for some reason).>>> So to recap, you have a known unstable computer and Audacity seems to be the only program affected by it? Audacity is a very simple audio program and it depends for its existence on a known, good, stable c...

Re: Where to download musical notes?
<<<Does anyone know where I can get audio files of pure musical notes>>> Google the frequency of the note you want and then use the tone generator to generate that note on the timeline. I believe the default tone is 440 Hz which is the "A" that the oboe sounds at the beginning of the conce...

<<<That's when I start laughing. It's no wonder that you have a low opinion of Windows PC's,>>> Oh, it was a long time coming. My addressbook runs very comfortably under MS-DOS 6.2. My CompuServe subscription, still running, was opened July 17th, 1985. I have a license for Windows 1.0. OS-X was the ...

Re: NOOB question re garage band cf need librarys
You're clear they really want you to pop for a Mac, right? This GarageBand thing is just a little side trip.

Re: silence finder
Just so we don't go barking down the wrong road, here. Do the other filters and tools work? Noise Reduction? Amplify? If you picked up this sound file by the side of the road one day, you may have a file that Audacity doesn't know how to manage. It will seem to play OK, but none of the tools will wo...

Re: Cassette to CD
If you have a good deskside PC, this isn't too hard. Hopefully, there's a Line-Out on the tape machine and you connect that to the Line-In on your sound card. I think my connecor is blue. Your mileage may vary. That's usually, what, Stereo RCA to stereo 1/8" plug. Length to suit. You may not go...

Re: buying a headset
Generally, for thirty-five cents a headset, you don't switch anything off. It's built into the mechanics of the microphone boom. Actually, I think we paid $19 US for ours. Slightly less for the single muff design. Another thing we liked about these is that the boom is flexible. Really. It bends like...

Re: Recording Woes
It may be more complicated than that. USB connections can be "self-healing" and in the case of a hard drive connection, they will try to punch their way through a certain amount of dirt or corrosion on the connections. If you sit there with an accurate clock and a calculator, you may notic...

Re: Listening while recording
There is another layer of this. If you launch Audacity and click once inside the red record meters, they will wake up and tell you what the record volume is going to be without going into Record.
