Re: audacity is crashing constantly
Deinstall the interface. Start Audacity over at First Birthday by dragging its preference file to the trash. On my machine it's /Users/koz/Library/Application Support/audacity/audacity.cfg Restart the machine. Launch Audacity and put all your custom settings in again. Stereo, 16-bit, etc. etc. Audac...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
You could test for spectrum density. As you point out, clipping inversion sounds really terrible--and should result in a very dense spectrum as all those intense, harsh overtones are created. If you apply the inversion flipper and the spectrum quiets down, then you done good. I can't imagine a condi...

Re: .aup to .wav track messed up on audio CD
I bet you're asking yourself if the standard for music CDs is 44100, why use 48000? I don't use anything else. That's the television sound standard. I've never met a CD burner program that couldn't handle it directly--even some of the older PC programs.

Re: How do I convert a track to monophonic
In Audacity 1.2 it's a master class in editing. In Audacity 1.3, it's a key click or two. Edit > Select > All. Tracks > Stereo To Mono. You can install both Audacities on your machine. Just don't use both at once. You might like the "Left-Right" sound track I recorded... http://www.kozco.c...

<<<have you found some situation where this causes a problem?>>> Not yet. Regard the comedy routine where a performer leans on a desk and he's off by about six inches. Re: Audacity and mastering?
I know of no reasons you can't "Master" in Audacity, given you have no unrecoverable damage (see: Coughing). <<<with Compression and such>>> <<<to bring the sound to forefront.>>> There is no Bring Sound Forward. If you didn't shoot it properly, there are very few tools that can change the...

Re: Removing background noise from real vocals
There's no such thing as a "Take Out The Sneeze" filter, no. It would be pretty popular if there were. There are highly restricted conditions under which some interfering sound can be managed (is that slippery enough for you?). You killed off one tool by having a moving target. Constant lo...

What kind of computer, which OS, which Audacity? Each piece gets us closer. Question Format http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/question.html I really need to write the PC version of this, but you get the idea. This is why there are individual forums for the different computers and different versions...
