Re: How to find start of song QUICKLY in project
All the Audacities have a variation on "Silence Finder" or "Silence Sense". Analyze > Silence Finder. That's the good news. The bad news is it rarely work well. You set the conditions such as "if the sound level drops below a certain level for a certain number of seconds, ri...

Re: Where to download musical notes?
One of the violin clips from the BBC; from Strings > Violin > Glissando > 0996.mp3 might be really good for you. The first note is without the vibrato normally applied to all violin notes, so you get to analyze it without it rapidly moving around.

Re: Audacity Crashes While Using Multiband EQ
Lovely, but it shouldn't crash at all. Audacity doesn't like it very much when you install sound services it's not comfortable with. How are you getting in and out of your machine? Built-in sound (I'm betting no)? <<<I uninstalled both versions of Audacity (1.2.6. & 1.3.6) as well as the plugins...

Re: using audacity to convert mp3s for ipods
<<<it plays at double time>>> Chances are really good those aren't MP3 files. That's what Audacity does when It can't figure out what's going on. Pull the files into "Super" or "Switch" (Google) and convert them to WAVs. Audacity will edit those just fine. If they don't need edit...

<<<Conexant sound card?>>> Gunna need the model number. That company makes a lot of stuff. Assuming it's a USB device, try plugging it into a different USB port. Generally USB sound devices go into 2, not 1. Plug and unplug a couple of times and restart the computer with the device powered on, if it...

Re: using audacity to convert mp3s for ipods
Distorted? Harsh and screechy? Bubbling and muffled? Can you post one of these--or a portion somewhere so we can hear it and beat it up? If you right-click a clip in Windows XP and select properties, Windows should tell you all about the file. Is there anything magic about these as compared to the m...

Re: buying a headset
<<<Yes please.>>> http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/labtec-test2.wav This is an odd combination of connections. I wanted to record a control so that's the Altec at the top. The LabTec needs computer battery to work, so I had to supply that with an external device. Still, both mics go through the sa...

Re: Question downloading Audacity
You should be able to download the Audacity version you want and leave it in the compressed archive format. Don't mess with it until you get the file on the second computer. The archive compressed version of the installer file is designed to go from machine to machine and stay intact. The Web Server...

<<<a turntable I bought to convert my records into wave files>>> USB turntables cause no end of problems. They're cheap, inexpensive, and they don't cost enough. They only have the simplest possible USB interface, so if anything at all goes wrong, they start producing funny sound files, odd captures...
