Re: error in playback?
<<<is there any way to convert these to mp3's>>> Probably, but I wouldn't recommend it. M4a is a compressed audio format and MP3 is a different compressed format. You get sound damage each time you go into and out of a compressed format. Much better to convert to uncompressed WAV format, edit, and t...

Re: Very Suprised & Impressed by This lil Program Audacity 1
Yes, it's a lovely simple editor, but it's not a Digital Audio Workstation. For one thing, it won't do anything in real time. No capture filters. Also no shortage of users trying to make it into one, but there is a limited number of volunteer developers and programmers, and keeping the basic code st...

Re: Compressor effect predicted time insanely long
You can get program insanity if you're starting to run out of hard drive space. How big is the drive and how much free? Both numbers, please.

Re: Mixtape Label Challange!
Just a note. Red Book Music CDs have no provision for track or song information--MetaData. When you plunk your CD into a computer and all that information shows up, it's the computer going on-line and finding out the information based on the length of each song and the cut structure. It's not on the...

Re: export as MP3
If it all continues to be unstable--which is not normal, we need to start looking at your computer. How full is the hard drive and when was the last time you error checked and defragged? An error anywhere in there will cause computer insanity--and not just with Audacity. Audacity happens to be the c...

Re: Generation Loss in AUP to WAV to Aup to Wav?
<<<you've just doubled my hard drive space.>>> The person who normally objects to this is on holiday, so I'll need to do it. If you have a multi-track show (over 2) you have no choice but to try and save the Project. There are no reliable or convenient ways to Export one of those. Sixteen tracks, no...

Re: audio cd to zip file
Lots of points. AUP isn't a sound file, so if you tried to Zip and send one of those, it would not play at the other end. Only Zip WAV or MP3 files that you made. Sound on a CD has to be ripped to be useful. Music CD sound is a WAV cousin, but not a strict standard WAV sound file suitable for editin...

Re: Need initial conditions to load WAV
I know of no cameras that save sound as straight, uncompressed WAV files. It's really a compressed Something that Audacity doesn't recognize. Convert in Super or Switch [Google] to a nice WAV file (44100, 16-bit, Stereo) before you edit in Audacity. Alternately, there may be a conversion utility tha...

<<<Koz, use a little telepathy like everyone else, wouldya?<G>>>> Sorry. Crystal ball's in the shop. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get parts for one of those?
