Re: L channel only on RCA recording

Just to cover the obvious first, Audacity wakes up from First Birthday in mono. Left-only. Did you change it in Audacity Preferences? Let's assume you did. Launch Audacity and click once inside the red record meters. Nothing will happen (this is actually a program failure we're working on). Now pull...

Re: "Unable to open target file for writing"

I thought this had come up before. http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7883&p=31708&hilit=target+file#p31708 Underscore and dash are the only two punctuation marks allowed in computer file names. Some Macs will allow other marks (/, ?, !), but that's a recipe for disaster....

Re: LP Calibration Tracks

I think I still have the original calibration LP by CBS Labs. <<<A simple program would then compare the two and create a profile of the device in Audacity.>>> Simple because you're not a programmer. I can think if a bunch of problems with the process you outline, but what are you trying to achieve ...

Re: Testers needed - Considering "fix" for CTRL and CMD fias

OK. Here's the history. I have a Intel duo-core Mac Mini with an external FireWire drive boot to Leopard, I think 10.5.5 is the latest. The base machine boots into an older Tiger license if I start with the FireWire drive turned off. The install is pretty sparse, so it's a pretty good test bed. Anyt...

Slow Forum

I wonder if some of this sluggish forum business can be laid at the door of two major carriers having troubles. AT&T and S3 Networks. I've been in our server room when something like that happens to us. All the server activity lights, normally flickering cheerfully, go full on. Less fun to watch...

Oh, You're the one.

OK. I'm game. So this 1.3.7a replaces the 1.3.7a I already have? And how do I tell which one's what?

Re: I'm new to Audacity and Open Source software - please he

I think sourceforge is the official home. You not only need the program but the add-ons as well. Add "lame" in order to export MP3 files of your shows, for one example. http://audacityteam.org/ There are some convoluted rules under which you can actually sell Audacity, but anybody can use ...

Re: audio books in MP3 format

In Windows, you can get Switch or Super (Google) to do it for you. On a Mac, you can get iTunes to convert.

Re: Audacity has the audacity to eat tracks like crumble cak

<<<it sees the sound but wont play it.>>> Actually, what it sees is the first two AU files in the _DATA folder, which are graphic files and draw the blue waves. They have almost nothing to do with whether or not Audacity can actually find your sound files. The blue waves and reality can get out of s...
