Did it start doing this about the time you bought a new computer or sound card?

Re: Vista Playback Default Format and Audacity
Just for grins, with one of your sample music tracks in 1.2.6, change the sample rate in the lower left corner to 48000 and Export As WAV. That should give you a 48000 sample rate sound file. See if that sound OK and opens everywhere. Are you really trying to move Audacity Projects? Audacity project...

Re: Recording vinyls
I think the object is to use the reel to reel tape machines and this pipeline satisfies that requirement.

Re: Transferring via flashdrive
Audacity isn't, as one user put it, a "WAV Editor." It's an Editorial Production Environment Manager. As such, it's main output during SAVE is an Editorial Production Environment (Project), not a sound file. To get a sound file, you have to Manage the Saved Environment to Export one. No, I...

Re: Sound Card question
<<<exporting the LP transcription recorded with Audacity as a single WAV file prior to doing any editing work>>> Two items. There is no excuse for losing a live capture whether it comes from a microphone or lumps on a slab of vinyl. At the end of a live capture session Export As WAV immediately. No ...

Re: Bug in .aiff export
As above, fresh start. This time I APPLE-B added 4 labels to the performance. Export Multiple, numbered files, and change to AIFF. The four AIFF files will play in QuickTime Player and iTunes. I did note that Export Multiple launches the MetaData dialog box for each output file. That's annoying. Is ...

Re: audacity playback distorted on laptop
<<<is this common in laptops?>>> Some of the newer ones. As I'm finding out from a completely different perspective, you may decide to turn all that stuff back on again if you use video conferencing or one of the on-line telephone services. As a Global rule, Macs are set up for very high quality pro...

Re: Even the basics confound me! I currently
Audacity 1.2.6 on an XP machine. Have you exported your performance to a WAV file yet? Don't process or add filters or anything, just Export As WAV to produce a safety copy. Audacity SAVE doesn't make a sound file and you can get into trouble. Close Audacity and restart the machine. Bring everything...

Re: using lame to export to mp3 file
The first thing you can do is trash libmp3lame.dylib or give it to somebody who has an Intel based Mac, which you don't. You have a Motorola Power PC (PPC) Mac and you need to go back up and download the correct lame library for your machine. ("lame" is a program name, it's not a descripti...
