Re: Fixing variable sound level (DJ Mix)
Actually, Normalize won't clip unless you insist that it does. Normalize is a global volume control. Everything goes up or everything goes down. Audicity's version of Normalize affects left and right differently, so it can create more problems than it solves. You want one of the compressors. The vol...

Re: Select All of One Track
I've been doing file export tests with Gale and the latest build he gave me has most if not all of the Gray Quit problems resolved.

Re: Pause botton not working
Mine does work, so let's see if we can narrow it down. The keyboard shortcut for pause is the p key. Does that work? I can be recording a show and press p and the recording will pause. Press it again and the recording resumes. If none of that works, have you restarted Windows? Assuming you did that ...

Re: Transferring via flashdrive
<<<Someone is sending us audio from a PC. We're using a Mac.>>> You're the one! Just kidding. That's how I do it. I record a corporate meeting on a linux machine and prepare it for playback on one of the production people's Windows PCs. Then I record some additional material on my PowerBook and send...

Re: Listening while recording
Yes, exactly that. The reason there are so many options is to accommodate the people who are trying to play a rhythm track to their earphones while they perform on the guitar, for example. Software Playthrough may not work for them because although you haven't noticed it yet, what you're hearing is ...

Re: audio books in MP3 format
iTunes will let you create a playlist of your music and then burn the playlist to a limited number of Music CDs.

Re: Transferring via flashdrive
<<<the WAV file will be 5 times bigger than the MP3.>>> If you set it up that way. WAV files are excellent quality and stable but large and don't change in size. MP3 is a compressed format that can damage the show. Both the compression (file size) and damage are adjustable in Edit > Preferences > Fi...

Re: Listening while recording
Yes. When you're all set up to record, open Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Output and make sure the Mac is trying to stuff the sound out to the speakers or headphones and not back to the turntable (which occasionally happens). Then mess with the Audacity check boxes, and be aware th...
