Re: How do I get my noise floor to -60db?
RM2.wav has a terrific amount of odd noises between the words. Go into Windows control panels and make sure all the enhancements and other recording tools are turned off. I can hear auto noise suppression in there as well as volume pumping. Windows can cause all of that. More serious problem can be ...

Re: ACX-Check
A note about Mastering. It's a suite of tools. A harmonious grouping. You can't add any, leave any out, or use them out of order.
No, Effect > Normalize is not the same as Effect> RMS Normalize. You have to install RMS Normalize.

Re: ACX-Check
Some notes about that: We're not a service of Audible or ACX. We're working backwards from their published specifications and have a reasonably good track record of getting people published. one for noise (-58.1) It's good to know how the noise measurement works. It needs at least 3/4 second of pure...

Re: Pitch leveling/manipulation for car engine Ramp-up effect
as it's specific to engine sounds I think. I don't think that's quite right. You run into the same problems trying to turn a guys voice into a girl. Not all the pitches go up. If you try straight pitch shift, you get that record running at the wrong speed, chipmunk effect instead of a convincing tr...

Re: Meeting ACX Check makes my audio sound overdriven
best way (in terms of sound quality) is to use the "Amplify" effect with default setting first. So we need an ACX Limiter . When I apply mastering to posters' work, it's very rare to produce a clean timeline after RMS Normalize. Results range from a red overload here and there to a forest...

Re: Audacity recognizing USB mic but not recording or registering sound
That's the Catalina thing. The next Audacity version should be much better.
Meanwhile you might try a special Audacity install.

Re: ACX-Check
You may find that just adding Limiter solves all your problems, and you win. We have an Audiobook Mastering Suite of three tools that can turn any announcing style into a passing submission. If you announce well in a quiet, echo-free room, you may get a passing recording with no further effort. The ...
