Re: Bump-bump-bump

I'm split between two possibilities........OK, Heads it is. You are recording through a sound system that has auto voice processing and auto echo cancellation consistent with corporate video or audio conferencing (which Windows tends to do well). Dig in the instructions or sound panels and turn all ...

One other item. Gale's been solving file export issues with me in 1.3.6x and you've been stamping out structural issues in 1.3.7x. That's why I've been keeping two clean partitions. Shouldn't y'all be in the same build? Is that how you're keeping the different patches straight? Then merge later. Koz

Re: MP3 Bitrate help?

I guess first, WAV files don't have a bit rate--or I guess they do, but since it's fixed nobody ever talks about it that way. My sample WAV file I use for testing has a sample frequency of 48000, 16 bits per sample, Stereo. That's the six second piano2.wav from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soun...

Re: Audio playback slow and skipping

Most programs pile the resources onto the record side because you can't recover from an error there. If playback is damaged, you can always play it again (Sam).

So your machine won't do both--at least in Windows. See: Xubuntu.

Re: can I edit an mp3 file & save w/o recompressing?

What's going to kill you is the recompression. If you opened them up in Audacity and Exported As uncompressed WAV, they would be huge, but sound like the originals (subject to whatever editing and cleaning you did).

Recompressing them will destroy them.

Re: Illegal Operation message while trying to export to MP3

Recordable CDs and DVDs use the same technology as color photographs. Chromogenic dyes. You know what they look like after a few years on the wall. We took some equipment out of service recently that had its backups on CDs. The CDs were scary discolored and mottled (and they were in a file cabinet),...

Re: can I edit an mp3 file & save w/o recompressing?

There are tools that will do really simple cutting and pasting with MP3 files without changing the compression, but they're pretty rare and very restricted in what they do. I think somebody found one once that would let you change the loudness of the show, too, but you had to do it to the whole show...
