Re: Compression Fun
I wondered about that. The KPCC feed is basically a 15 KHz broadcast sound feed from NPR to my house. Various satellite and transmission media in the middle, but basically sound. The Podcast feed, even though it has the pre-transmitter Mixing Desk sound, has been through KPCC's streaming audio serve...

Re: Importing so a PC can listen to the file.
Multiple Problems. While the a clip is on the edit time line, look to the left and see what the numbers are. Ideally, they'll be something like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg 48000, Stereo, 16-bit. Another good one is 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. WAV files exported with thos...

Re: WIKI Link
That looks OK.
I just noticed this. Do we follow the Chicago School of putting a comma between "answers" and "and" in the subheading?

<<<goes via the inline socket.>>>
On your Windows Laptop? Those machines tend to not have Line-In in favor of Mic-In which like to overload pretty much exactly like you're describing. Roughly a thousand to one mismatch in sound level.

Re: Problem with Export Multiple to WMA format
Export Multiple sometimes creates problems. That and Windows Media can be a moving target. Can you right-click on the file that worked > Properties > Summary and tell us which WMA is created? then open one of the failed ones and see what that one says.

<<<There is a plug-in called "fast lookahead limiter" (which I believe is included in the plug-in pack on the main Audacity web-site) that will do that.>>> Ooooo. This is me writing that down. That could be part of the answer to this... http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&...

Re: SCREECHING: I HAVE NO CLUE!
You need to stop opening up that sound clip. It's in a format that Audacity cannot manage.
Use either Super or Switch (Google) to convert the clip to WAV which Audacity can then open.

Does the turntable work in Windows Sound Recorder?
Windows Sound Recorder
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment
I'm guessing no. Did you save your turntable receipts?

I like the font style and size--roughly half-way between the forum title and the subheading. I would lose the black color on "Tips" and "Tutorials". They should remain underlined. As an experiment tint the words yellow rather than pink. Say 191, 191, 0. Or maybe a paler version. ...

Re: Audio playback slow and skipping
I do remember the first time I bought a "modern" SoundBlaster card for my Win98SE 233 MHz machine. Vastly improved over the original card and this one was a lot better at MIDI controlling my keyboard. Y'know, I haven't defragmented that one in a long time. That machine keeps the older appl...
