Re: Accessing the Line Input

Macs will not do that without outside help. My favorite way around this is WireTap. I have a license for WireTap Pro and it pretty much does everything I need and it connects to the scheduler for unattended recording. I think VersionTracker has older versions of the program. A more difficult way aro...

Re: Recording a Radio Scanner with Vista and Mic In.

<<<the other end in to my laptop's Mic In>>> Mic-In connections are expecting an audio signal roughly a thousand times lower than the one the scanner is producing. The laptop is amplifying the noise floor from the scanner which, along with everything else, is a thousand times louder than it should b...

Re: How to record/talk in the mic and stream sounds on SKYPE

<<<I am able to talk in the microphone and the conference members are able to hear me, but the sounboard sounds end up sounding distorted.>>> You need to hear the transmission show and take part in the conference with multiple locations? I think that would be a nightmare to design and build and a se...

Re: Poor podcast audio quality when recording from LP??? Hel

I'm getting a headache trying to think of all the variations that could cause all the symptoms. Let's do a test. This will either tell me/us valuable things, or completely cloud the issue. The Alesis mixer is connected to your Windows PC, right, through the USB connection? If you go into Audacity Pr...

Re: First time user

<<<3. Launch Audacity, hit record and start record.>>> I'd put a 2a in there. Click once inside the Audacity record meters and they will wake up and meter your show without going into full record. This is useful to avoid clipping and overload. Play some representative samples of the loudest part of ...

Re: vocals to dry

It's a little rough to do quality analysis when the whole point of the music is to be edgy, crisp, and highly processed.

I think it's fine as is. Producers learn really early on that it's not a mistake if you tell everybody you meant it to be that way.

Re: In a VIRTUAL PC ?

Oh, right, the solution. I would export a perfect WAV file and use third party software to make an MP3. Much safer, and it gives you a good safety sound file of the final show. Never use MP3 as archive storage.

<<<just can NOT export an MP3)>>> What steps have you take to make it do that? <<<So... I was gonna install Virtual PC and run Audacity in an XP session.>>> Let us know how you make out. My opinion is that your possibilities for success are almost zero. Audacity is a really simple audio program and ...

Re: Poor podcast audio quality when recording from LP??? Hel

<<<I am plugging the Behringer into the Alesis via RCA plugs have anything to do with sound quality loss?>>> No, because there is no quality loss. You said you plugged headphones into the Alesis and it sounded fine. I gotta sit in the corner and read this again. We're missing something here. Koz
