<<<it jumps so the result is skippy.>>>
Wait. What jumps? The playback or the recording? Or both? Can you post a little of the damaged recording somewhere so we can listen? (the forum doesn't support sound postings)

32-bit Floating.......wait...what?
Audacity 1.2.5 Mac OS-X 10.4.11 I got a 32-bit floating WAV file at the wrong time. I made an AIFF, 48000, 16, Stereo sound file in WireTap Pro. It was the easiest way to capture the sound from a complicated video edit session. I opened it in Audacity 1.2.5. Audacity preferences are 48000, 16, Stere...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Let me rewrite that a bit. <<<@Koz I think what Tony has done is to record one Stereo Performance with the "Right Channel control sweep from his audio system" + "microphone (no signal)>>> Followed by... <<<recorded a second Stereo Performance with "Left Channel control sweep from...

Re: Recording media from WMP
<<<I am trying to do the most basic thing>>> Pretty much the exact basic thing that Windows Media was designed to prevent. It sounds like you are recording from your built-in microphone. You need to manage your Windows Sound Panels so you can record 'What You Hear' or 'Mix Out'. Some of the latest v...

Re: pasting a clip into a track?
I don't think Audacity will do a video-style "Overlay Edit." You could try putting the new snippet on a second timeline under the first. Use the time offset tools to scooch it over to the right place, and then selectively mute the original snippet. Like carefully select the wrong snippet a...

Re: Exporting Music
iTunes > File > Add To Library > Desktop > music.mp3. There is a setting in iTunes preferences that makes it produce a digital copy of your work inside iTunes (default iTunes will not do that). Then delete your desktop copy. I can imagine it's the same in Windows Media. I believe you can't change Wi...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
I had to lie down for a minute. <<<I was under the impression that when I clicked in the one I wanted (and it highlights) that the Export would then just export that one capture.>>> That's the part I can't follow. So far you have a complete textbook example of using a stereo recording system to reco...

Re: Making a podcast of a radio programme
Yes, I do that all the time. There's two flavors. One flavor is to capture the performance as a live stream at the time of broadcast. I do that with WireTap on the Mac and Total Recorder on the PC. Open up the captured file in Mac/PC iTunes and sync to your iPod. Go jogging/walking. Many presentatio...

Audacity doesn't come with MP3 software, it has to be downloaded and installed separately.
