Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes

You don't have to stop the recording. I believe you can pause or suspend the recording while you change connections. That will give you one straight-line recording with everything on it. Also very simple.

Simple is good. We like simple.

Re: Is this the best way?

I see the problem. The sound card isn't up to the number of channels in the board. Does it, by the way, record all ten? Audacity will handle 16 tracks, but the software has to directly support as many channels as you have. Without adding money, you can record just the stereo mixdown, or record the s...

Re: Making a podcast of a radio programme

<<<the quality is not brilliant.>>> That's because you're probably recording the internal microphone. That would sound terrible and drop dead when you plugged the headphones in. <<<I have tried (and tried to get my head around) the various links suggested.>>> You're intended not to make this work. Re: major feedback/distortion while recording

Change USB connections and restart the Mac. Another version of this is unplug and replug in the existing socket several times. This kind of distortion can happen if the USB bitstream gets ratty enough long enough for the sound transmission to fail. There's no provision for advanced error correction,...

Re: only records on one channel

Audacity wakes up from first birthday in mono. Reset in...

Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O > Recording.

Reset to 2 Channel (Stereo).

Restart Audacity and see if that helps.

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes

You can't just run the sweep again? We've been how many days fixing this? Each patch step invites mistakes. Of course, I never make mistakes like this, but not everybody is so lucky. You understand we're going to want to see at least one live total performance, right? With microphone track visible. ...

Re: ION turntable problem

We keep leaning on the headshell/cartridge because you can get symptoms like this if one of the four cartridge wires doesn't go through or is dirty (by "dirt" I mean electrical oxidation, not cat hairs). Did the cartridge come in a separate box and you had to screw it in to use the turntab...

Re: ION turntable problem

Headshell......oops, too late.

You can also get this if your speakers are wired wrong. How are you listening to the work? Does it still happen on headphones? If you make a CD, does it happen in your car?

Re: Error While Opening Sound Device ERROR (please help!)

<<<Please lemme know by tonight>>> By tonight where? Let's see, in LA it's 2330 hrs. PM. In the evening. Forget the project and open up the WAV file. Cut with that. I do not use Audacity Projects because they're brittle. I always Export as WAV after any capture, important or not. I understand you ca...
