Re: Error opening project
<<<This is consistent with every new recording I create.>>> Right. Which is why I actually said to bring one of my known, good, working sound files down and work with that instead of something you made fresh. This effectively divides your system in half and gives us a much better idea which side is ...

Re: iMic volume/noise issues
One or two notes. Ribbon microphones can do very well with sound, but they are big and heavy and more importantly, they don't produce a lot of electrical signal when they're working. No matter how hard I google, I can't get get anybody to tell me what the output connector is. 3-pin XLR? If it is, ho...

Re: recording off the internet.
That can be done using obscure Windows Sound Panel settings. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel There are some Windows machines out there now that have been purposefully made so they will not record from the internet no mat...

<<<Anyway, I'm sticking to the mixer and 2 mics idea. Under $100 investment I'd say.>>> See: <<<Trying to start podcasting on the dead cheap.>>> First sentence, first posting. <<<May I be so bold as to suggest n-track(can use multiple input devices) then, or is this frowned upon here :? Re: Processing live vocal recordings
You have just stepped into one of the problems with the Zooms. You can't "ride the levels" during the performance to make up the difference between someone talking into his pint, and the weapons-grade singers. The choices are using the auto gain controller, or adjusting so the loudest perf...

Re: recording 5 hours of webcast radio
That person who couldn't play your disks? That person is now your Quality Control Point. Buy them lunch. Reduce the burn speed and use higher quality blanks until your music works on their player. Never use "Burn At Maximum Speed." Ever.

Re: recording 5 hours of webcast radio
Try it again using top quality name-brand disks. My favorite is Sony.

Re: Podcast recording, 2 x microphones
<<<Most USB audio interfaces and possibly ALL mixers have 1/4" jack inputs as well as XLR inputs.>>> True, but that's only going to work with the microphones you haven't bought yet, not your headset. <<<You just need an additional cable to connect the output of the mixer to the line input of th...

<<<Should I have been doing things differently? >>>
You appear to be doing everything perfectly.
That's too bad. I gotta go back and read all that again and see if anything jumps out at me.
Have you gone into Disk Utilities and checked your hard drive for errors?
