Re: Assertion (gfc->mf_size <= MFSIZE) failed in "lame.c" on
Abundanza!! Too much of a good thing. Trash them all. Audacity is looking for one single LameLib file and it's nice if it finds one in the Plugins folder, and it's even nicer if all the operating files and folders were in one Audacity folder under Applications. I have, on one machine, gotten a bad d...

Say I picked a really bad UserName for the forum (as above). There's no way to change it without destroying the account, right? And how do I destroy my own account?

Re: Slow Forum
I've been paying attention and I log in from different machines all hours of the day and night. Any minute now I'm going to time it and see how long it takes to drop out. Another possibility is to try logging in from two different machines at the same time and see if it delays each time. My fuzzy im...

Re: Assertion (gfc->mf_size <= MFSIZE) failed in "lame.c" on
Yes. Macs have an odd Audacity problem in that the more advanced Intel processors use an earlier Audacity......what. Yeah, it causes no end of grief because the "wrong" Audacity almost works You didn't do that. <<<The e-mail address filled in automatically and I didn't think to edit. Can I...

Re: how to make it sound like a telephone call?
What is this thing you call a "Land Line?" Oh, wait. That's how my DSL gets here. So that's the challenge. How do you simulate gargling echoes that come and go? On the other hand, this could be a Traditional Holdover. Like everybody knows that radar goes round and round and a newsroom has ...

Re: Assertion (gfc->mf_size <= MFSIZE) failed in "lame.c" on
I probably wouldn't have posted a real email address on line.... Let's start with the exact version of Audacity and which Mac and OS. Like this: Question Format http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/question.html Then we can go on to finding out the size of your hard drive and how much room there is le...

What is this thing you call a "telephone?" You mean a cellphone or mobile? Those have way different sound problems.

Re: Olympus VN4100pc
The machine uses a wacky 4-bit sound format that only its own software recognizes. You may be able to use Super or Switch on a PC to convert to a 16-bit WAV file that you can open in Audacity. On a Mac, if the files won't open in QuickTime or iTunes, you're out of luck. Somebody may make a third par...

Re: Help me
Audacity isn't a very good program for transcoding and changing formats. You can get into trouble by doing that. Much better to convert or create the clips in the format you want and then set Audacity for that format so everything matches. On a Mac you can use iTunes Import or QuickTime Pro Export t...
