Re: Problems with save and with export

Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > Select Your System Drive > Repair Permissions. Let's talk about how we installed Audacity. We downloaded the archive file (dmg), double clicked on it and it created an install "drive" on the desktop. Everybody with me so far? Create a fresh folder ...

Re: Automatic speed change?

<<<By the way, I can change the Hz of individual recordings and make it sound better (44100 to 87000) but when I try setting the next track at 87, then recording, it starts out slow all over again.>>> I was going to ask you if it did that. Good to know. It doesn't help, but it's good to know. The nu...

Re: Automatic speed change?

<<<I was recording with someone who was on the phone>>> Describe the connections. What exists between your lips and the computer? Actually, it may have been recording you fast which gives you a slow playback. The point that can happen depends on what you tell me about the setup. Include how the phon...

Re: Combining mono tracks end to end

You could go through the business of copying and cutting and pasting and trimming, but if you have them where you want them right now, I think you can just Export As WAV and Audacity will combine them for you into one mono (if I understand what you want) sound file. Both of the tracks say "Mono...

Re: metal sound

It's in French. I'm not sure I can handle it, n'est-ce pas? Most of the damage is caused by overload which should be preventable. The volume is much too high for Audacity to properly manage. The blue waveforms should never go all the way up and down like that--to "1" if you're on the norma...

Re: Error opening project

<<<I guess it should be something like <tag name="ARTIST" value="ARTIST"/>>>> While I could well believe that is the correct structure of the XML, I can't believe 1.3.6 got this far without somebody noticing. I run 1.3.5 and several builds of 1.3.7 and I've never had any problems...

Re: Trouble aligning tracks

I think these tools are better in 1.3, but Project > Align Tracks.

For example, place the cursor someplace in the timeline. Project > Align Tracks > Align With Cursor, and the start of the track will snap to wherever you put the cursor.

<<<It is connected to my computer with red and white audio cables which run through a box of some kind, and then to my computer with a USB cord.>>> That would be the left and right phono cartridge and stylus output plugged, hopefully, into a phono preamplifier. Re: Pulling audio from video clip?

Switch and Super are the two programs. The free one is a pain in the neck but the paid one is much easier in every way and converts more formats.

Or, yes, you can deal with ffmpeg. Both Audacities can be installed on your machine, but you can only use one at a time.
