Re: recorded traks not centered at 0 on Waveform
The odd one has battery voltage mixed in with the sound. I have a USB microphone amplifier that does that. Effect > Normalize > Remove DC Offset. You'll have to do that after every recording on that machine. Whatever device is converting analog audio signals to digital is broken. I have also receive...

Re: metal sound
<<<Can I change sound levels using Audacity ? With the equaliser ? >>> You can change sound levels by selecting the whole performance and Effect > Amplify. However, what it's going to do is give you very damaged sound only more quiet. Digital systems do not gracefully overload like some analog audio...

This post sounds familiar. Did you post this twice?
The original file is almost certainly not a WAV file. Those are huge and they always get smaller. Right click > Properties > audio Properties or Summary to find out what you really have.

Re: How to create tracks in the live recording?
Put a Label at the beginning of each song. Apple-B or Control-B. Then File > Export Multiple and Audacity will create a pile of individual song files for you.
WAV is good. Everybody goes right for the MP3 format and that can cause sound damage. Both Windows and Apple know what a WAV is.

It would have been a little better had you posted further up the forum so we wouldn't have to ask you what kind of computer you have or which version of Audacity. But we do.

Re: mp3 file sizes
It may say it's a WAV file, but it's really an IMA file which is a compressed format. So you're going between two compressed formats which is why nothing seems to help. I don't remember if Audacity 1.2 will open up IMAs or not. 1.3 might. You can have 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine at the same time as ...
