Re: behringer UCA202 alternatives
star-tech USB adapter you referenced for the laptop That gives you a Mono Mic-In and Stereo Headphone Out. It duplicates what at the time was the standard Windows laptop configuration, so I can use my mono telephone pickup microphone on my Mac. My Mac, which, again at the time, had Stereo Line In a...

Re: Soundflower audio capture on Catalina?
Soundflower is a 32-bit app.it seems that Soundflower has reliability issues with 64-bit Catalina.
Can you bump the machine back to Mojave or High Sierra? The Party Line is Catalina doesn't support Audacity in its current form, so it's more entertaining than you think.

Re: Help with cleaning a fuzzy audio file
How did you record that? I use a special microphone and the recordings come out way better than that. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/TP7SoundTest2.mp3 Open the clip in Audacity and View > Show Clipping: On . See all those red lines. That's the kiss of death. That's data overload. There ar...

What was wrong with the Win7 desktop? A three-banger soundcard has the right connections and Audacity will run on Win7. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/soundCardFinal2.jpg You need one of these. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo-650.jpg You need to make sure Windows doesn...

UCA222 That's the one with the fire-engine red paint job. No other difference I can tell. This series is in the sweet spot between low cost and good performance. UCA-202 Stereo in and out. UCA-222 Fire Engine Red. UFO-202 Phono Preamp. There are USB sound mixers which will do this, but they're not ...

Re: Hardware/Software Playthrough issue with Blue Yeti USB Mic
I think you have something else wrong. Your own voice comes from the Yeti, not the computer. This is from the Yeti instructions. Screen Shot 2020-04-02 at 7.04.05.png No software clicking and no latency because your headphone voice comes from the Yeti . The full blue box on the right has a warning n...

This would be the plain old RMS that ACX is looking for to accept an audiobook reading, unless they changed something. The alternative choice is plain old "RMS".

basic 3.5mm microphones Very basic. Neither the PC Soundcard nor the microphones will win any awards for sound quality. What they will do is teach you what to do and not do with a microphone. Yes it will pick up the computer noise and the dog barking down the street. No you can't hold it with your ...

You can get an external USB soundcard with a MIC-IN on it. I use the StarTech one.

Re: behringer UCA202 vs UFO202
i have a few basic 3.5mm microphones the type that come with the basic windows desktop machines. Those are designed to plug into the MIC-IN of a soundcard. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/LaptopMicIn.pdf You can't plug one of those microphones into anything but a MIC-IN (red or pink). https...
