Re: Processing live vocal recordings
<<<Then the engineer could edit between the two tracks in post as necessary.>>> You can be the engineer. I'll watch. There is a fuzzy rule to allow ten times more editing and production time than the length of the show. So an hour show consumes ten hours of editing. I suspect using the two recorder ...

Re: What is causing the crackling on this vinyl??
If the system plays other vinyl albums correctly, then the only other possibility is a bad record. When I do a master transfer of records, I literally scrub them with dish washing up soap and warm water. Rinse carefully in distilled water which drys and leaves nothing behind. No alcohol or other che...

<<<increasing the needle pressure to 4g>>> That's a good way to dig holes in your records. What was the original setting? Somewhere around 1 gram? You can put it back where it was. Stylus pressure does not affect separation. Audacity Preferences > Audio I/O > Recording says 2 Channel (Stereo) right?...

Re: Unwanted echo effect on recording
You are probably recording yourself twice. Once when your voice goes into the computer and then once again when it plays back out to your headphones or speakers. Windows will cheerfully record both depending on the settings in the Windows Sound Control Panels. Windows Control Panel http://audacityte...

Re: Voice effect
Anything you do to the audio to make it slightly different from the person's own voice in the performance will work. It's best if the effect is right next to the live voice in the performance and note that there's almost always a visual clue, too. The action slows down, the actor stares straight int...

Select the control point and drag it off the timeline. It may help to magnify the area containing the bad control point.

Re: recorded traks not centered at 0 on Waveform
Left out a step. In Audacity 1.2, you have to Edit > Selet > All first. In 1.3, you don't have to do that. This could answer a question I've had about this for a while. I've never done the research. Does it do that on a good and a bad computer if you download the exact same show file? Download the s...
