Re: Problems with save and with export

As we are finding out, there are a number of different ways to save the preferences. If you've been at this for a while, you have older preferences saved as ... /Users/koz/Library/Preferences/audacity Preferences ...or, for a refreshing change of pace, they may also appear... /Users/koz/Library/Appl...

Re: I can hear everything when recording

One other trick. You don't have to press Record in Audacity to see what the levels are. You can click once inside the red record meters and they will wake up and show you the levels.

It's one of Audacity's built-in diagnostic modes.

Re: I can hear everything when recording

Just because I'm compulsive about this, you are not plugged into the "headphone" connector. Chances are, you're plugged into the Mac Line-In which is the connector labeled the little black circle and two black arrows pointing in. Given that, you are recording your built-in microphone, not ...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file

The file "audacity Preferences" will not appear on a search for "audacity," but it will appear on a search for "audacity Preferences" or the star wildcard "audacity*". But now that I know the secret, it does show up on a search for "audacity." I love...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file

I can ask one of the Systems Operators here at work. One or two of them are really good with Macs.

Didn't we solve this explosion and focus thing like weeks ago? I need to go home to really test this stuff. Occasionally, they need me to do actual work.

Re: Problem Importing File

Nobody has permission to upload. The forum isn't that big. What you're supposed to do is upload the work to your own web site or other service and point to it. http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html In any event, you don't need to do that. Audacity doesn't support Windows Media WMA files. You can...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file

Yes, it is and yes I do.

The question that immediately springs to my, and a number of other people's lips is why doesn't that show up on a search for "audacity."

Re: LPs to digital--need more gain!

Look at the instructions and see if the preamp is rated for a moving coil cartridge. There are some serious level problems with those and at least in analog land, they take special preamplifiers. You can apply Effect > Amplify to your songs and bring them back up to normal, but they will be noisier ...

Re: setting up

If you're on a Mac, this is about fifteen minutes of setup. Are you?

You probably should have posted further up the forum where you have to tell us your computer and version of Audacity ahead of time. Now we need to find that out anyway.

Re: Recording multiple inputs simultaneously

It's not unusual for seemingly complicated, multiple channel, super-duper audio devices to present their data in groups of two stereo channels. You may have 16 tracks indside the device, but Audacity will only see "Device One" which is channels 1 and 2, "Device Two," which is cha...
