Re: keyboard shortcuts
You have a classic unstable Mac. The keyboard settings do not change themselves ad lib, even on the Beta version of the software. Audacity is a complete slave of the machine on which it's running. When was the last time you Verified and Permission Repaired your System Drive? Are you running Audacity...

Re: Need test files for that cause Audacity to hang
Also, unsaid, is the Quit functions are working now, too. 1.3.7 had that thing where you had to Quit the program in a wacky way. Now we just need to get rid of all the exploding outlines and the presentation is pretty much licked. Did you know there are three exploding outlines just to open the prog...

Re: Naming tracks and recording question
Audacity has a lt of little wacky work-arounds. <<<Is there something obvious that I'm missing here?>>> Continue to record on the second track and use the Cut and Paste functions later to put the work into the timeline you want. This has the advantage of letting you do simple edits while you cut. <<...

Re: can't seem to export to wav
I think in 1.3.7, it's in two steps. The first step asks you if you want a "wav" format. After that, it presents you with another format screen and that's where you pick the sample rate, etc.

Re: Recording WAV file in old format (8kHz, 8 Bit)
On a Windows machine, "Super" or "Switch" (Google) can be used to convert a sound file to multiple other formats.

Re: How do Audacity projects work?
Forget the Project. Capture/Record your performance and Export As WAV immediately. TuesdayMorningMaleVocal.wav. Copy that file to an external drive as a safety backup and lock the drive in a closet. I hate that Windows will not allow you to see file extensions, so I usually turn that "feature&q...
Re: "Sharpen"
Audacity doesn't have a treble control, but it does have the equalizer. Select a short portion of sound that illustrates the error best. Effect > Equalizer The tool window arrives way too small to do anything useful, so grab the lower-right and pull the work window as large as you can. That blue lin...

Re: Recording from Tape Recorder Onto Mac
Working way too hard. Plug one of these between the Headphone Out of the player and the Line-In (circle with two black arrows pointing in) on the Mac. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3433875 Make the Mac pay attention to the Line-In instead of the Built In Microphone... Re: Binaural Recording
You understand one of the disadvantages of "real" binaural is you can't move the microphones. This means the glasses with the microphones mounted on each earpiece must be worn by a plastic or rubber head, not the real thing. The first time a real head turned around to look at somebody talk...
