Re: MP3 Issue

File > Export > Format (at the bottom of the window).

I show some fifteen export formats available in 1.3.6, and the number went up in 1.3.7.

From Audacity 1.3.6 and on, there is that extra step. There is no File > Export as MP3.

Re: Audacity won't open my files -- HELP!!

Preferences for Windows/Audacity 1.2 are burned into the Dreaded Windows Registry and it's really rough to fix a scrambled Audacity. Just resintalling Audacity won't do it. What happens if you drill down to where you can see the sound file, right click on it and Open With... Pick Audacity. Do you ha...

<<<Just a test>>>

Have you tried restarting your computer and trashing your audacity preferences file?

<<<I see from the forum that this problem has vexed people before me!>>>

Then you'll also see that the first thing we ask them is, "What are you recording from?"

Microphone plugged into the Mic-In of the sound card?

Re: *Reverse Echo* in LP Recordings

It could be a vinyl error, too, although "a few seconds" is a little long. It's possible for adjacent grooves to bleed. So however long once around is, that's the leakage sound. Grownup cutting lathes have a look ahead playback system and they know when a loud presentation is coming so the...

Re: big lo-fi audio files for wide audience: what codec?

Exactly that. AM radio top audio frequency is 5 KHz. The transmission can actually go way above that, but the radio receivers usually wack it off at 5K to avoid interference with the next radio channels up and down. Radio licenses in each city are chosen to avoid collisions, but at night, you can he...

Re: Recorded and Saved LP Projects Cannot be found

We're sorry we couldn't solve your problems. We hate losing a "customer." I used Cool Edit 2000 on my PC and I'm very happy with it. I have owned the license for years and I have the "Adobe Audition" upgrade, although I rarely use it. The more information you give us in the quest...

Re: Recorded and Saved LP Projects Cannot be found

What we're trying to explain is that Audacity Projects are not "a file." One project can be multiple files and folders. Because of their complex nature, Projects are brittle and easily damaged, something not generally explained very well in the Audacity documentation. People can lose proje...

Re: Recorded and Saved LP Projects Cannot be found

A project isn't "a file." A project can be hundreds or thousands of files managed by a supervisory file--the aup file. This is the file everybody thinks is their show. It's not. It's job is to point to their show. The aup file can be opened up in NotePad and read. Here's a simple one... ht...

Re: Pre-amp?

The little circle with two black arrows pointing in is the "Line-In" of your Mac. It's stereo and "high level" suitable for connection to the output of a sound mixer, an audio or video tape player, a CD Player.....or a microphone preamplifier. Past the arithmetic and engineering,...
