Re: audacity with usb speakers

--or--

I have licenses for Total Recorder for the PC and WireTap for the Mac. Either of these will easily record anything the computer happens to be doing. They both have schedulers so you don't even have to be there.

Re: Recording a podcast from different sources.

You could do that with a small mixer, say a couple of microphones and headset feeds. The computer with the sound effects on it is one of the inputs of the mixer. Then record the finished show onto the second computer. Edit your brains out since shows like that never come out the right time or the ri...

Re: Audio to USB converter question

Some time in the twelfth century, somebody posted a process whereby you could modify a standard SoundBlaster PC sound card to pass DC. The project was a very large screen voltmeter.

Google your brains out.

Re: Home Audio logs

OK, what do you like in a USB device that will successfully manage, say, six independent audio tracks, and get them into Audacity that way? Doesn't matter where the audio comes from, we can deal with level issues.

Re: suggestions

If I understand this, you drag-select the area you want to delete, and then press delete. Audacity will smash the two waveforms together. I generally do this in two or three passes, getting more and more accurate with each pass. Keep magnifying, highlighting, and deleting. The last pass is where you...

<<<But Linux is very capable of performing superbly with audio.>>>

I agree. Linux machines can be made to perform some very serious work. I think our company worldwide has thousands of them. We also have very few beginners.

Re: New to editing - help!

I pretty much never "Save Projects." I capture live performances and Export As WAV immediately to get a good sound file. If it's an important show, I'll copy those sound files to a backup drive or device. Then I edit and produce the final show and Export the client deliverable show file. T...

I rarely use the Zoom In and Zoom out tools. I usually select some segment of the show by dragging and then Apple-E to zoom into the selection. Apple-F is zoom full. You might have a damaged preferences file. Can you find audacity.cfg? Close Audacity and dig down and drag that file to the trash. Res...

Re: Audacity still seems to be making a rather quiet recordi

I'm not poking fun at you. See: Steve. This is the traditional operating system that doesn't do sound very well. The production linux machines here at the farm routinely kill their sound for no apparent reason and it takes one of the Systems Operators to get it working again. So if you wanted to gua...

<<<Linux AND A TOTAL TECH DUMMY>>>

There's a movie, isn't it? Total Tech Dummy encounters one of the more challenging operating systems in the world. What did it for you? Price?
