Re: Audacity Won't Play My Song!

This could go off in several different directions. Let's try something. Pull down piano2-CoolEdit.mp3 from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html ...and see if that plays OK. It's 6 seconds long. Do you know you have MP3 files? All audio files are not MP3. Ripped CD music is likely to be ...

Re: Test = ignore

From the time the forum came back up with the new settings, it's been on a three to five second response time except one night where I think the whole server went down for a couple of hours. So this is perfectly workable.

Re: Easy recording question

I probably wouldn't paste unless you're perfectly sure both recordings are at exactly the same audio standard. Best leave each one on its own timeline and slide each one back and forth for proper timing. They will both play at once unless you tell them not to with the Solo and Mute buttons.

<<<I have everything matching at 44.1 in Audacity and in the sound effect menu of my card, which is what I thought is correct.>>> Oh we believe you. However, nowhere is it written that the 44100 Hz master digital clock generator inside your US$8 sound card has to be running at exactly 44100 Hz. Supp...

Re: Easy recording question

You're close. Go into Audacity Preferences... Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O > Recording > Built-In Audio, 2 (Stereo). Audacity > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit. OK Restart Audacity without your MP3 file and check that your preferences "stuck." Press record and you should get a ...

Re: change of file name?

Sure. You open up the AUP file in TextEdit and read the file names. The AUP file is a Project Manager and it's job is to know where everything is. Here's a simple AUP file... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg Line one (projname=) tells me the original project name and about line six (aliasfile...

<<I'll then click the MP3>>>

Where exactly did the MP3 come from?

Re: How to record system sound

One. more. I forgot to hook this back into Audacity. WireTap can be configured to always record in 44100, 16-bit, Stereo AIFF audio format. These saved files will slide right into Audacity for editing and exporting. If you enhance Audacity with the lame tools, you can export a very nice MP3 file, or...

Re: How to record system sound

I've been recommending WireTap for years. It records system sound and connects into the scheduler, so you don't even have to be home. I think you can get a cheap older version from VersionTracker. I never use most of the advanced tools, so my WireTap Pro license was probably a waste. If you're into ...
