Re: Is there an easy way to down-convert Audacity files?
How many songs do you get on your iPod? Did you find that the additional noise handling and greater headroom of the bit depth compromised by the fact that 96000 will try to record local radio stations? There is such a thing as having a system that's too good. I still can't find the tool that allows ...

Re: Is there an easy way to down-convert Audacity files?
You can change the sample rate of the project with the little window in the lower left. That affects the export sample rate. There used to be a way to change the bit depth like that too, but I can't find it in 1.3.6. Still looking.

<<<other posters on this board who should be able to suggest a method for you in due course.>>> And goodness knows which time zone they're in. You may not be able to get there from here to revisit a very old New England joke. When you say the word "So," your inflection could put a swing on...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file
<<<WireTap created compressed AIFF by default>>> So post a sound file that fails. Unless somebody can do that, I'm going on the assumption that one person has a bad machine or a damaged sound file. I get about the right numbers of MB for a show that length. I was very careful to turn all the compres...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file
More news. I have a file called piano2.aif on my web site. I will be shortly removing it. It turns out to be one of the messed up Audacity exports and it arrives in different bit depths depending on how you open it. In QuickTime 7.6.0 for Leopard, it arrives as a 16-bit file. In Audacity, the same f...

<<<Are you sure the 1.3.7 you have was downloaded on or after 9th February? We replaced the file on the server on that day with a build which should not have this problem. Re: Microphone input
That microphone appears to be a cheap knockoff of a Shure SM-58. Assuming it's working, the trick is to get the pins in the connector adapted to your sound card. I don't know that Radio Shack makes an adapter that does this, I always and up making my own. Microphone pins one and three are connected ...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file
It might be interesting to split this up a bit. I don't trust Audacity exports for a second. That's how I created the sound file that reads in three different bit depths depending on where you look and the humidity outside. I posted that file and I still haven't heard back. Leland is probably lying ...

Re: Question about Mic Input slider
Did it go down when you started talking and drift back up when you stopped? Windows PCs naturally assume you're using them for corporate telephone calls or video conferencing. That's why they have Line-Out (for headphones) and Mic-In from the microphone connected to the headset. Like this... http://...
