Re: Export - smallest size, best quality

I see what they did. lame creates "Compressed Audio Files" that can be read by most MP1, 2, and 3 players. On the linux machines here, if you do a 'man lame' to get the instructions, you get 836 lines -- several pages -- of options and switches. Not for faint of heart, this. There certainl...

Re: unable to record

Then you may be one of the machines blessed with the missing 'Mix Out" or What You Hear." PCs tend to get doubly shafted because unless you're on a Desktop machine, you have no "Line-In" connection. If you are, then put a 3.5mm male to male between Line-Out and Line-In and see if...

Re: New USB sound but cant hear it

<<<Will they help me ?>>> Latency controls affect how late or early the machine plays back already recorded performances to you so you an play along with them live and not have echos in the final show. Doesn't help you a bit. Nobody posted this yet. This is the Audacity wiki about the Windows Contro...

Re: Spyware Detector and Audacity

There are a number of different ways to protect your PC from evil software, and each package does it differently with different success rates and different affects on the machine. You might consider disconnecting your machine from the internet while you're producing your work (air gap firewall) and ...

Re: Spyware Detector and Audacity

<<<I have repeatedly asked their support team to get it fixed>>>

Whose support team? If you got the program from the official sites, it should arrive with no problems. If you got it from somewhere else, it could very well be infected.

Re: Recording hypnotherpy sessions - can anyone please help?

<<<a high-end Philips recorder which would get 'confused' after about half an hour and more often that not, completely 'lose' the recording.>>> Did you try changing CDs? We found an enormous difference in blank CD stock. We settled on Sony CD-R disks and many if not all of those problems went away. ...

Re: Export - smallest size, best quality

As you no doubt found when you opened up the lame help pages, lame goes forever. True to its roots, "Lame Ain't an MP3 Encoder," you an use lame for thousands of different options and certainly not just making MP3. Audacity has a vanishingly small subset of options available because nobody...

Re: RECENT FILES UNDER FILE

There's always trashing the configuration file. Find audacity.cfg and drag it to the trash. Restart Audacity and it will ask you 'Engligh" and basically start over at first birthday like you just installed it.

Re: new user not able to record from external mic

If you mess around in Apple Preferences and never get that little bouncing light meter to flash, then Audacity is helpless. Audacity is standing on top of Apple Sound Services. I measured it once and that Apple sound meter is pretty cool. It has a 40dB range and any useful sound managed by the compu...

Re: Recording from audio cassette problem!

<<<there is crackling noise in the background that is not on the cassette>>> That could be rough without hearing it. Might you have dirty plugs? Clean the 3.5mm plug that goes into the computer with Windex or other glass cleaner, dry it, plug it in a couple of times, pull it out and wash it and dry ...
