And to tie the bow, Audacity Projects (Packages of files lead by the AUP file) will not open in earlier versions.

Re: no signal when recording original music
Has any of this ever worked? Have you ever been able to record audio under any circumstances? Computer style microphone plugged straight into the computer? <<<I've just finished a 10 hour shift>>> Yes, have a care. I know dancing semi-naked in front of 200 screaming women seems like it should be fun...

Re: Sound Disappears
OK, now that you get it, here's a simple project file. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg You can open yours up in TextEdit and read it, too, although it won't be as cleanly laid out as this one is. I posed it for the photograph, got on its Sunday nickers and combed its hair. Note that in about...

Re: Sound Disappears
Yes. This happens to everybody. The AUP isn't a sound file. It's a Project Manager. It's job is to point to the thousands of other files on your Mac that make up your show. Capture clips, imported segments, external sound files, special effects tools. Everything you used to produce your show so far ...

Re: removing voice track
Did you get new speakers? The Vocal Removal tools don't permanently change your machine, however, your speakers could be mis-wired and you're just now paying attention. Play the Left-Right sound clip from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html ...and make sure only the last segment sounds...

<<<If I force quit Audacity now,>>>
So you're on a Mac? You don't have to do that. Close Audacity and when it asks if you want to save anything, say no. If you crash the program, the Project Rescue Services will launch and that may very well step on your old project.

Re: Problems Importing Labels in Correct Album Sequence
iTunes main window doesn't count. What you're intended to do is create a playlist and import your music into that/those. Those services are entirely customizable and song order stays where you put it.

Re: Hang when importing aiff file
<<<when exporting AIFF from WireTap you had to turn off "Compression" in its preferences>>> And that's exactly what I did. <<<As for "piano2.AIFF" - iTunes, QuickTime (Windows versions thereof) and Foobar all agree it's 16-bit (QT says it's Big-Endian byte order as you'd expect)....
