Re: Error after exporting
Does the stable one work? You can have both versions on your machine as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity likes working in a really simple machine with lots of error-free, defragmented drive space. Do you have Vonage or Skype? How big is your hard drive and how much room is on it? I need ...

Re: Recordings - only deleted section
<<<I opened the files>>> Which files? The exported WAV and MP3? Did you play them when you made them to make sure they were OK? I do several shows like this every week, so I'm pretty sure it works. Do you mean the project won't play any more? Did you move things around or delete some of the original...

Re: cant record any internal sound from computer
Some people force this to work by connecting the headphone output back into the Line-In with a short jumper cable. That's not optimal, but sometimes it's good enough.

Re: cant record any internal sound from computer
I have two licenses to do this, WireTap for the Mac and Total Recorder for the PC. Sometimes you can force Windows machines to do this by juggling the sound panel settings, but with some of the newer Windows machines you're otta luck. Re: Noise reduction
You can play tricks with furniture pads, pillows and hassocks. You can't block the computer air flow, but you can record behind a pile of throw rugs and that will help. I have done voice tracks in my carpeted bedroom with the microphone set up on the crazy quilt on the bed. That's how I recorded the...

Re: export to burn cd
Yes. Put a Label at the beginning of each song. Apple-B. Then File > Export Multiple > WAV. Audacity will make many songs that you can put in iTunes. Create a Playlist in iTunes and move your songs to that playlist. Then burn a CD. Let iTunes tell you when to put the CD inside. Do not put the CD ins...

Re: Optimal MP3 settings
What he said. The encoder in 1.2 is nice, but you can do a much better job in 1.3. Additional comments: Compressors are front loaded. The client always gets the show in real time and the quality they get depends entirely on the work you do and the time and care you take. Two-Pass takes longer and is...

Re: rebuild audio from data AU files?
There didn't use to be, but so many people nailed themselves to the floor that the tools got better.

<<<I'm using the latest Audacity Beta.>>> Hard numbers are good. I use 1.3.4. Which one do you have? If you had one problem you'd be OK, two problems is a little rougher, but you pretty much did everything wrong. You have a low level mono recording with a poor sample rate and you have significant in...

Re: Interview subjects talk too loudly!
<<<Do you know anybody who uses the AGC?>>> Forgive me. Know anybody who's used it more than once? The end of this week's NPR - This American Life has an interesting problem. It's an interview in a car or bus. There is an odd variation in the interview voices which turns out to be a result of sub-ba...
