Re: I only want to record my voice

You may have the computer set to record everything that it sends to the headphones. On some machines it's called "Mix Out" and some machines it's "What Your Hear." You can arrange the proper sound in your machine with the Windows Sound Panels. Windows Control Panel http://audacit...

Re: split tracks?

Do you mean breaking up your single long show into multiple exported songs? Place a Label (Control-B or Apple-B) at the Beginning of each song. Then File-> Export > Multiple. I would be exporting WAV if my collection was headed for a music CD. MP3 if I was going to post them or email them to somebod...

Re: Audacity to CD

<<<I have just bought a Netbook on which I would like to load Audacity without having to go online.>>>

You have a new NetBook which has very limited use without going on the net...and you're not putting it on the net.

Did I get that? I'm just reading this back to you.

Re: Just getting static and hiss when exporting as WAV

While there is a provision for making WAV files greater than two-track stereo, the process is buried miles down in the Microsoft Specifications and it's effectively supported by nobody. Including Audacity. There was a note a while ago about someone making a multi-track recording file specification, ...

Re: Voice to midi

That's a good one. I can't even project how I would do that if somebody paid me a lot of money. I know exactly how to turn a voice into piano notes, any vocoder plugin can do that, but going from an electrical signal vibrating at 440 cycles per second with overtones every octave or so, into a series...

Re: Batch record with Audacity? Multiple prompts !

No, but maybe somebody else will jump in. Not knowing what the original software was puts a serious crimp in the search--especially special purpose software like that.

Re: cant record using the line in

Let's split it up. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Make sure Line In is selected but leave the panel open. Turn the panel Input Volume all the way up. Plug one of your 1/8" cables into the Line-In of the Mac, but leave the other end free. Grab the cable end by the plastic...

Re: cant record using the line in

Set the amplifier so your headphones are just on the quiet side, and then plug a 1/4" phone to 1/8" mini adapter between the two. Do you have a Radio Shack nearby? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102952 It's going to be left-only mono, but once you capture it, you ca...
