Re: When will 1.3.x be out of Beta version

Yes, we were a little uncomfortable with how the program daddies labeled the 1.3 version. It scares a lot of people away and it's just not that "unstable." Do you remember seeing really old maps of the world where the ocean is labeled "Beyond here, dragons dwell." Cuba, maybe, bu...

Re: MP3 Puzzle

<<<If you are busy helping others as you have helped me then I can live without an answer.>>> The others can wait. DC, Direct Current, or plain battery voltage is not sound, but sometimes gets mixed into a sound performance when there is a bad adjustment somewhere or an actual defective electronic c...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file

Posted. Well. I turned over a rock and found a bee's nest to cross metaphors. OS-X has its own version of AIFF and true to their heritage, Apple carefully hid all the clues to what they did. They're right up front about the inability of older software to open OS-X generated AIFF files which are real...

Re: "file not well formed in line 6" error?

There are only three people working on the Mac version, and only one of them is a developer. You'd make, what, [counting on fingers] four. You missed the important oddities of Audacity. "Save" will not produce a sound file which I'm betting well over 90% of the users expect. That's respons...

Re: Hotkey and saving files (Bug?)

Normally, I would berate you about naturally assuming any bad behavior is a bug, but in this case you're right. Multiple people on many different machines, including me, figured out that Audacity 1.2.5 running under Leopard on an Intel machine fails. The official recommendation is trash the program ...

Re: Hang when importing aiff file

I am reminded how darn much fun this is. I cleared the decks and hunkered down to deal with this file format problem. Turns out PC Cool Edit and Audition both know what an AIFF file is and will write one if I ask--sort of. My two stabs at making a 32-bit AIFF file both resulted in "AppleAIFF 24...

Here. Download the four piano2 clips. They are the same musical performance in four different formats. AIFF, WAV and two different flavors of MP3. They should all load and play perfectly in your Audacity.

Let me know if one of them fails.

Re: Drop in octave when track imported

Everybody always starts these questions in the middle of the movie. Where did the music come from? Itunes download? How sure are you that iTunes wasn't wrong? <<<it dropped an octave, sounding slightly slower >>> That's rough to believe. An octave is 12 piano notes. That's not slightly lower. That's...

Re: Exported MP3 not recognised by Windows Media Player/Vist

<<<it says it does not recognise the Codec.>>>

I have responded to MP3 problems that vanished when the show/project was 16 bit and not 32-bit floating. It would be interesting to see if that helps.
