Re: can i hear what i am going to record before hitting reco

Your Mac may be trying to send the show out the wrong spigot. Go > Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Output. I can't tell you what those are going to say, but they should be rational. Don't send the signal out the USB connection when you're ...

Re: I want to increase the loudness

<<<"Chris's Dynamic Compressor" >>> This is a terrific compressor. I use it to process internet talk shows before I burn them to CD so I can listen in the car. If I don't do that, I have the same problem you do, They're very theatrical and flamboyant, but not very loud and they damage and ...

Re: When will 1.3.x be out of Beta version

<<<What do you mean? There's 1.2.5, right? --Allen>>> Audacity 1.2.5 will not run properly on Mac/Intel/Leopard. That particular combination (only) features that bug where the keystrokes start activating program features and tools whether you want them to or not. The developers are looking for a qui...

Re: hum removal

<<<When I did it that way... there was almost no reduction in the loudness.>>> Right. Because the area before my first keystroke was computer generated pure silence, not amplifier noise, hiss, hum ,or buzz. In that particular case, you subtracted zero from my performance. So it works. There must be ...

Re: Lost Files

No, but they did miss one. Are you filling up your System Drive? Click on your System Drive and Apple-I for an INFO panel. If it's not on your desktop, Go > Computer > the drive icon. Mine is called Francis Hard Drive. Francis is my PowerBook. The drive on an audio (or video) production machine shou...

Re: Editing problem

One other note. If you insert silence and the silence is bigger than the viewing window, what happens then -- on both versions.

Re: Editing problem

<<<Try it out and you will see what I mean.>>>

That would be rough to do since you posted in a section of the forum where I can't tell the type of computer you're working on.

Re: When will 1.3.x be out of Beta version

<<<IT person at my workplace where I need to use it won't install 1.3 for me.>>>

Then you're stuck. The next stable, non-beta release will be 1.4.

Re: hum removal

One other note. When you change the settings in Noise Removal, use the sliders and not the text entry windows.
