Re: recording goes to right channel and not stereo
In 1.2, the effects choices only wake up after you select some audio. That doesn't happen in 1.3. We have been recommending that people slide over to 1.3 for any serious work. You can put 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine at the same time as along as you only use one at a time. You can't open up a 1.3 Pro...

Re: How can I amplitude modulate one channel with another ?
That's what the vocoder does. too. That case is a balanced modulator rather than straight AM. The carrier is only present when the talent speaks or sings.

Re: Audacity & itunes interaction
There are ways of managing iTunes so it manages your music properly. iTunes > Preferences > General > CD > Import Settings. If you select WAV encoder, Automatic, I believe iTunes imports music at the save perfect , uncompressed WAV settings you used on the original file. If you're compulsive, you ca...

Re: Audacity & itunes interaction
iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > [x] Copy Files to iTunes Music Folder... If you don't check that box in iTunes, then iTunes doesn't have the music, either. The programs all write the location of the music selection on little Post-It® notes and sticks them to the wall. If anything happens to that o...

Re: High Pitch Noise When Recording
You're using the USB device because your built-in sound card is that bad? Are you sure? My sister's machine puts a high pitched hiss on one channel only (left) and the other one is clean, so she has troubles with good quality audio. Two of my PCs at home have well-behaved SoundBlaster® sound cards a...

<<<If I disconnect the 2 rcas no whine,>>> Let me read this back to you. You have the whole thing set up for recording and the act of removing the two RCAs from the USB device gives you a clean recording? I'm clear that disconnecting the RCAs removes the monitor amplifier and speakers, but does it c...

Re: High Pitch Noise When Recording
It sounds like feedback. Everything is fine until you close the loop, and you can break the loop anywhere and it stops. Are you listening to the speaker and microphone getting into each other? There's a more convoluted path. Are you recording Mix-Out instead of the signal from the USB device? Anythi...

<<<Surely this is not so hard !>>> Yes, it is. And don't call me Shirley (Leslie Neilsen, "Airplane" 1980.) This is the same problem that Vonage and Skype have. In order to make this stuff work with any reliability at all, they have to grab the machine sound services with a vice and not le...
