Re: English grammar errors in Help Contents

Are you pissed?

No, I haven't had a drink all week, but I am peckish.

What.

So now we get to argue not about whether to split an infinitive, but where and how deeply.

Re: Administrative

Could you make anything out of that link? Mine didn't go anywhere, but that's not surprising since I keep JavaScript off. There is one scary note that someone in a security contest broke into a Mac/Safari in about fifteen seconds. All you needed to do was surf to a compromised web site. Blammmo! Som...

Re: Spam, Unsubscribe

We've had quite a pile of bogus subscribers posting stuff on the board. I personally killed off 8 different accounts in the last hour.

Re: VOLUME

Not in naked Audacity, no. Both "Normalize" and "Amplify" (cousins of each other) work on the loudest part of the show. If you record 20 minutes of single violin playing and at the last second somebody fires a gun. Only the gun will come out right. These two tools don't do what e...

Re: No sound in saved project on Panther

Can I assume you have a PowerPC G-something? That's important. You can install one 1.2 and one 1.3 as long as you never actually launch and use more than one at a time. You can't install two 1.2s or two 1.3s. You may have trouble opening up projects now that you've scrambled the system a little. Can...

Re: What bit rates for MP3's are generally considered low, m

Ummmmm. I do use 256, yes. I use 256 AAC, not MP3. The more modern compression scheme is generally thought to be twice as good as MP3 giving me an effective stereo quality of 512.

Re: MAC /VMW Fusion audio input problems

Macs only have one "microphone" input and that's the built-in device. They have no provision for plugging in an external microphone. Options are Line-In (like to record from your iPod, sound mixer, or guitar amplifier), USB, or FireWire, the last two being direct digital. What do we know a...
