Re: Help with hip hop vocals?

One reason nobody jumped right on this is that the answer is a college level course in computer recording, not something we can answer after the orange juice and before the toast pops. Yes, we do do that. I think it's beyond a simple, free audio program volunteer help forum to design a computer audi...

Re: Recording with bluetooth headset

<<<bluetooth headsets as mics, then record them directly into seperate channels on audacity.>>> Grand idea, except Audacity will only record from one Sound Device. Once you do find the appropriate sound channel, you will probably discover that Audacity will only record from one at a time. I think yo...

Re: Audacity/Pamela recording issues - Normalizing audio lev

That and you may have made an error. Trying to fix a compressed and damaged MP3 is a lot harder than trying to manage a high quality, perfect, uncompressed WAV file. Do you have the original Audacity Project? If you don't that's strike two. Sorry, three. The paid version of Pamela is reputed to be t...

Re: Removing Background Music

It's a lot harder than it seems because the conditions for this are very serious. The show must be in Stereo, the singer must be in the middle, etc. etc. In your case, the music must be surgically perfectly lifted from the original digital track and not just copied from a similar track you found on ...

Re: Voice Effect - Hoarseness

I don't know of a filter package which will do that. This is the same sort of question as when people posting wanting to change between a man and a woman's voice. You can always get about 60% there with the conventional tools but it always sounds like the wrong voice that you applied a lot of filter...

Re: Soundcard question

If you already have a working turntable, you're usually far better off repairing that one and using that with a quality phono-preamp than trying to buy a USB Turntable. The manufacturer's know they're making a throw-away turntable and that's what they built. A lot of USB turntable manufacturers incl...

Re: Evening out overall track volume (voices)

I've been using this compressor to even out volume variations. When I change the first value to .77, it's a dead ringer for a local radio station sound. http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ It only works in Audacity 1.3. You can install 1.2 and 1.3 as long as you only use one at a time. Y...

Re: removing part of the track that don't want?

It should have been the same lead. Does your regular guitar still work? Both instruments work with a magnetic pickup sending signals down a wire.

Does this lead plug into your keyboard and does that work?

Re: Best Recording Prefs in/out

The bit depth controls high volume overload and quiet noise. The sample rate controls frequency response or clarity. They both affect how much hard drive space you need for the performance. The natural reaction of most guys is to pick the highest possible numbers and then brag about it over a pint a...

Re: Apply De-emphasis?

We're both cleverly hiding behind the fact that you need to be three or four dB off before anybody can hear the difference. So any curve that gets close is usually good to go on. This is the same property of your ear that screws up buying a new living room music amplifier. You have to double the pow...
