Re: iTunes AAC to Audacity MPEG

Apple AAC Advanced Audio Coding is a variation on MPEG4 - H.264. So they were right. However, Audacity 1.2 has never understood what that was and will either reject it outright or try to import it anyway and damage it in the process. Someone will correct me, but Audacity 1.3 knows what AAC is? If yo...

Remember, it's a dialog. Which one worked for you?

Re: Recording both the mic and streaming audio

Typically, Audacity only does one thing at a time, so people producing full-blown shows in their computer run into all sorts of problems almost immediately. We know what happens in the case of Skype and Vonage. One works with their own proprietary recording software and the other works with the paid...

Re: VOLUME

I complained about this on his web site. There's also the matter of what the program is called once it arrives and how you find it.

Re: Help?!

<<<Should I be wearing headphones?>>> Generally, yes. Say you recorded a drum and scratch track that you then want to play back and sing to. The microphone is going to pick up the original scratch track in the background in addition to your voice. If all you do is play a guitar, for example, then he...

Re: Recording DJ sets using audio interface??

That's normal with USB services. Also try going into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. That's a supervisory panel to System Preferences. Set that and Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Restart Audacity once to make sure it sticks. Launch Audacity and click once inside the reco...

Re: Recorded files disappear after closing prgrm

<<<in the default Audacity_temp directory.>>> Try not doing that. The temp directory is a little magic. Make a new directory called some new name and put your exports in there. Be careful with your file names. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash, and underscore. That's it. No other character...

Re: Trouble recording vinyls.

<<<is visible in the Mac system preferences with no problem.>>> Do you get the System Preferences bouncing light sound meter when you play something? That's important because that meter is pretty inclusive. It's a 40dB instrument, so if the show doesn't appear on that meter, you have no show. Koz

Re: No sound in saved project on Panther

<<<OTOH, couldn't I export them as .wav and then reintroduce them all into one, new project?>>> Yes, that's the recommended way to travel. Export Early, Export Often. In my case, I record live voice performances and Export WAV files on a regular basis. Then I copy them to Someplace Else as backups. ...

Re: buzzing noise....

This is what it looks like when you're recording a show. That's where I got the red recording meters from. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg In Audacity, this process is a little wacky because there is no indication whether you are in monitor mode or not. You take it on blind faith...
