Re: Need to record left and right channel at different volum

Once you start using USB, the computer becomes a bitstream manager, not an audio manager. There is no more "Left." I'd be making significant effort to find out where the unbalance is. That is a serious error. I had an iMic for a while. I thought so highly of it I boxed it and put it in the...

Re: I'm new and i have a problem!!!

That can happen if you plug the high level Line-out of your mixer into the low level Mic-In of your computer. The first amplifier of a Mic-In connection is very sensitive, uncontrollable, and overloads at the drop of a hat. Switch to the Line-In connection if you have one or change the type of conne...

Re: Help Recording Classical music from Vinyl

If the recordings are really low, you may need to bring up the volume in either Audacity, or the Windows/Mac control panels.

This listening to Classical Music thing was exactly why Chris designed his compression tool.

Re: Trouble renaming segment saved

It's worse than you think. 1.2.6 will not run on an Intel machine. Those take 1.2.5 and as we're finding out, even 1.2.5 has its problems with the Intel/Leopard combination. My 1.2.5 runs perfectly on my Intel machine...under Tiger. So you're far better off in 1.3 land. See, if you had said that ear...

Re: FFMPEG vs LAME in Audacity 1.3.7

<<<Standard CD.>>> You need to be careful about the English words here. You can't put MP3 files onto a Music CD, so you're preparing an ISO Data CD that your newer car happens to know how to play. Put that disk into an older CD player and the player will look at you funny and not know how to act oth...

<<<started using Office 2007.>>>

Hmmmm. I think we've heard that before in another posting.

Since Audacity 1.2 was designed at the end of the fifteenth century, you might try Audacity 1.3. You can safely install both on your machine as long as you only use one at a time.

Re: Temp file problem

Is the machine connected to the internet? I don't want to play Captain Obvious here, but did you turn your machine over to Norton for a full system scan? The one you have to wait an hour for? Did you fill up your hard drive? Most programs will go nuts when the hard drive space runs out and Audacity ...

Re: Need to record left and right channel at different volum

That's correct. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except capture. If the capture system or device doesn't let you change it ahead of the Mac, then you get to do it in Post Production. See: McBride. Wait. This just in! You might be able to cheat the two channels' capture volumes with... Go > ...
