Re: downgrading from 1.3.8 to 1.3.7?
The only safe way to change versions is to take out all the support files. Trash Mac Audacity Preferences http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8250&hilit=problems+with+save+with+export&start=10#p34670 The new install should ask you "English?" when you first start ...

Re: Using Audacity to slow down playback
You missed the real question. "I downloaded some music and it's playing really fast. how do I slow it down?" Did I hit it? Audacity will do that when it encounters a highly compressed audio file that it doesn't recognize. Convert in Switch or Super to WAV format and that will drop right in...

Re: mic input levels
Assuming you didn't drop peanut butter or cat hairs into the microphone hole, you can change the volume in the Windows Control Panel and you can also try increasing it using Audacity input level control near the microphone symbol. I'd be posting on one of the Windows or PC forums. I remembering formatting one of my Windows hard drives once...back when Kennedy was president.

Re: Command line leveller effect
This is me printing the screen. My particular application is capturing "radio" talk shows and listening in the car. The internet version has the volume compression of the original performance, that is, usually none. If somebody leans into the microphone, they get a lot louder in a big hurr...

Re: Glitchless compression
The built-in tools are mathematically correct, but they don't always sound very good. Chris's Compressor, on the other hand, sounds pretty good and does exactly what you want.

Re: Problems with voice recording
What tells you that you have a built-in microphone? I don't see anything in any of those panels or illustrations that suggests that you do. Especially if the Windows conferencing software couldn't find one, you may have a Hollywood microphone. Looks grand but doesn't do anything.

<<<Transferred the file to the desktop computer.>>> That may be the step that killed you right there. Audacity Projects aren't "a file," they're a sometimes very large collection of files. Healthy projects will not move between computers. I can't imagine all the trouble you can get into tr...

<<<After almost a year of inactivity, 1.2.4 nor 1.2.6 is able to record.>>>
You can't install 1.2.4 and 1.2.6 on your computer at the same time. That's a known unstable condition. Delete both, restart Windows and put 1.2.6 back on.
