As I write this, Catalina doesn't support Audacity.

Re: playing another track while recording?
There is another oddity. You can't listen to your computer and hear yourself perform at the same time. The computer delays make your own live work sound out of time or with an echo. That's computer latency. What you can do is listen to your microphone, sound mixer or USB interface if it has that pro...

Re: playing another track while recording?
The job of overdubbing is to play a rhythm, backing or accompaniment track to your headphones while you're performing to a new recording. There's a setup you have to go through to make sure everything lines up. It's not push-a-button automatic. In one scenario, you can Generate > Rhythm, Metronome, ...

Re: Debug report makes Audacity unusable
The spinning beachball is pretty serious. That's from the Mac, not Audacity. That means the Mac is taking way longer to do something than the time allotted. When was the last time you shut down your Mac? I don't mean Apple > Restart, I mean full shutdown. While it's going down, do you get a tiny spi...

Re: Audiobooks rules
Do you have a microphone and a very quiet, echo-free room? The word "Studio" scares everybody, but that's what you need to record your voice the best quality. We can't take echoes and many room noises out of a recording. It doesn't have to be one of those glass-paneled rooms with the heavy...

Re: How do I remove the can sound
Please note in the book-towel picture, there's a heavy pad on the desk. That helps with some voice distortions. That blue thing is a moving quilt, but more towels would do it.

Re: How do I remove the can sound
To specifically answer the question, once you announce with that honky distortion, you're stuck. There's no way to fix it later.

Re: How do I remove the can sound
Make sure you're using the Snowball switch position 1 on the back and you talk into the BLUE name. that helps suppress room noises. You should be about a Hawaiian Shaka away from the microphone, closer if you use a pop shield. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/HawaiianShakaSpacing-NoScreen-500...

Re: How do I remove the can sound
Talking into a wine glass can be caused by something on the desk or studio that acts like a can or glass (mustn't eliminate possibilities out of hand) but it's much more likely to be caused by the computer. Make sure all the Windows Enhancements or Effects are turned off and you don't have Skype, Ch...
