Re: Audacity for Mac less powerful than Audacity for Windows
It has nothing to do with drivers. Macs were designed without the dangerous recursive sound pathway that gets so many Windows users into trouble. If you flip back through the Windows postings, they're all about getting their unstable Windows machine to work, rarely how to run Audacity. "How com...

Re: any way to change bitrate of MP3 export?
Correct me, but Audacity 1.3 has the ability to set the MP3 bitrate at export. Open up the Options panel in the export window.

Re: Ok- what's the function that "marks" songs called??
<<<Damn- seems that with all Audacity can do, I thought just adding names to the songs & having the whole thing Export as a whole would be fairly simple. >>> Everybody runs into this problem. When they designed the Music CD there was no standard compression and the only way they could fit 80 min...

Re: Octave Band Analizer
http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=20 Your request boils down to wanting Audacity to apply analysis and filters in real time. This is a very old feature request. Real time is enormously hard to do because of the large selection of different machines that run Audacity. There was a posting ...

Re: gain
And the third tool that does a similar job is "Normalize." Normalize lets you pick the volume of the loudest part of the show and it adjusts both left and right differently until that loudness is achieved. The tool is different between Audacity 1.2 and 1.3. 1.3 lets you choose the target l...

Re: Ok- what's the function that "marks" songs called??
<<<I can't help if I can barely figure it out myself.>>> I bet you know more than some of our posters. The whole range of users arrive with questions and some of them have no idea what kind of computer they have. Trust me there is nothing as educational as trying to explain to somebody else how thei...

Re: Ok- what's the function that "marks" songs called??
<<<I did that & then it exported all the songs separately. =/ >>> Right. Then you "author" your Music CD with a program that lets you set the spacing between songs to zero. You may still get a minor hit between songs, but for the most part, it should just play straight through--assumin...

Re: exporting - distortion only in the exported WAV file
How about when you mix down for the export, Audacity adds everything up. In your case, everything added up works out to over 100%.
Apply the Amplify tool and reduce everything -- all the tracks uniformly -- by 6dB. Export again.

That key on your left is the Caps Lock key. Can you turn it off, please? We need to do one quick check on your machine before we try to rescue anything. Are you filling up your System Drive? That will cause problems like this and it will prevent us from rescuing your show. From the desktop. Go > Com...

Re: Yet another clipping problem
RapidShare refused to share anything with me, JavaScript or not. Anyway, if the damage is in the original music file and you couldn't get rid of it with any of the usual tools, then it's permanent. There's an old joke that by the time you realize you need any of these tools, it's too late. How did y...
